[ENG-SPA] The Christmas Flower🌺//La Flor🌺 de Navidad

I had several Mondays that I did not participate due to problems that merited my exclusivity such as attending a sick family member, doing all the necessary errands, the corresponding protocols, medical appointments, exams, tests and studies. The positive thing is that it has improved and now I am with the diet and supply of treatment. And I have already had some time and I got excited about the #NeedleWorkYourSeason contest.
In our country for this time in the nurseries there is a very beautiful and colorful plant that is grown for these days to decorate or set the different areas of our home, offices and store windows. After growing it in greenhouses are taken out to indirect light, gradually there begins to change the color flower from green to red or white and that is the emblematic Flor🌸 of Christmas or Easter, can also be called parrot or poinsettia. And this beautiful red or white flower is very commercialized these days to decorate our trees, wreaths, but made of plastic or thin fabric in the form of a bouquet. This flower inspired me to make it, to show it, and also to compete.
I have made this flower in felt and using sequins sewn with thread and sewing needle. This craft is very entertaining and laborious because you have to sew one by one the sequin with its beads. Without further ado I will give a brief explanation.

Tenía varios lunes que no participaba por problemas que ameritaban mi exclusividad como la de asistir a un familiar enfermo, hacer todas las diligencias necesarias, los protocolos correspondientes, las citas médicas, los exámenes, los análisis y los estudios. Lo positivo es que ha mejorado y ahora estoy con la dieta y suministro del tratamiento. Y ya he tenido algo de tiempo y me entusiasmé con lo del concurso de #NeedleWorkYourSeason.
En nuestro país para esta época en los viveros existe una planta muy hermosa y colorida que la cultivan para estos días para adornar o ambientar las diferentes áreas de nuestro hogar, oficinas y vidrieras de comercios. Después de cultivarla en invernaderos se sacan a luz indirecta, poco a poco allí comienza a cambiar la flor de color de verde a rojo o blanca y esa es la emblemática Flor🌸 de Navidad o de pascua, también puede ser llamada papagayo o poinsettia. Y esta bella flor roja o blanca es muy comercializada en estos días para adornar nuestros arbolitos, coronas, pero de plástico o tela fina en forma de ramillete. Esa flor me inspiró para realizarla, enseñarla, además concursar.
Esta flor la he hecho en fieltro y utilizando lentejuelas cosidas con hilo y aguja de coser. Esta artesanía es muy entretenida y laboriosa porque hay que coser una a una la lentejuela con su mostacilla. Sin más preámbulo paso a dar una breve explicación.

Step by step//Paso a paso

Materials//Materiales:

• Red, white, green felt scraps.
• Molds.
• Strip of pearls.
• Red, gold, silver, green sequins.
• Sewing thread.
• Sewing needle.
• Scissors.
• Silicone.
• 03 Wooden sticks.

• Retazos de fieltro color rojo, blanco, verde.
• Moldes.
• Tira de perlas.
• Lentejuelas color rojo, doradas, plateadas, verdes.
• Hilo de coser.
• Aguja de coser.
• Tijera.
• Silicón.
• 03 Palitos de madera.

Process//Proceso:

• Place the molds on the red felt with pins, for the petals (06 small) and (06 medium).
• With the help of the scissors cut the felt forming the petals.
• The petals are sewn together to form the flower, in the center a circle of felt the size of a 0.25 coin is sewn.
• The same is done with the medium petals.
• Then superimpose the group of small petals on the medium petals and sew them together.
• Then sew the strip of pearls (7).

• Se colocan con alfileres los moldes sobre el fieltro color rojo, para los pétalos (06 pequeños) y (06 medianos).
• Con la ayuda de la tijera cortamos el fieltro formando los pétalos.
• Se cosen los pétalos formando la flor, en el centro se cose un círculo de fieltro tamaño de una moneda de 0,25.
• Igualmente, se hacen con los pétalos medianos.
• Luego se superponen el grupo de pétalos pequeños sobre los pétalos medianos y se cosen.
• Después se cosen la tira de perlas (7).

Assembly//Ensamblado:

• Sew the sequins and beads around each petal.
• The leaves are made with green felt and sequins and beads are sewn in the center.
• Repeat the same process for the white flower.

• Se cosen las lentejuelas y mostacillas alrededor de cada pétalo.
• Se hacen las hojas con fieltro color verde y se cosen lentejuelas y mostacillas en el centro.
• Se repite el mismo proceso para la flor blanca.

I was happy with this craft, besides working with felt is very practical and the use of sequins gives it a touch of light and brilliance. I am grateful to a secretary friend who taught me how to sew with sequins. Whenever I apply this technique I remember her.

Quedé contenta con esta manualidad, además trabajar con fieltro es muy práctico y el uso de lentejuelas le da el toque de luz y brillantez. Le agradezco a una amiga secretaria que me enseñó a coser con lentejuela. Siempre que aplico esta técnica la recuerdo.

La flor de navidad o papagayo es un arbusto, originaria de México y América central, puede llegar a medir hasta 4 metros. Florece en invierno desde noviembre a enero. Se propaga por esquejes. En viveros hace que la planta en diciembre floree trasladando dicha planta a sitio oscuro hasta por 12 horas desde el mes de octubre.
