A church member reached out to me, asking if I could make a tube corset similar to the one I wore on Sunday. She wants to wear it with a white shirt and suit trousers, as it's the choir's dress code. She doesn't have any fabric, so she asked if I could repurpose her old suit trousers. I told her ofcourse. Let's get started, shall we?
MATERIAL USED;
* Old suit trousers
* Black lining
* Black thread
* Scissors
* Measurement Tape
* Pattern paper
* Bra cup
TRANSFORMING OLD SUIT TROUSERS INTO TUBE CORSET: CORSET CREATION
* I torn the trousers into pieces and drafted a pattern on paper ensure accuracy. I took her measurements and marked the burst point to under-burst point on the paper. Then, I traced the cup shape, adding half an inch at the side so that it won't expand. So that the corset will fit comfortably.
* After finalizing the pattern, I pinned it to the fabric and added seam allowances -2 inches at the side of the front bodice and half an inch at the bottom hem. Then, I cut out the back bodice pieces accordingly.
* I marked the center front and side front on the fabric to ensure accuracy. Then, I started sewing the lining and main fabric pieces together, darting the area cup for shaping. (Note: Darting the area cup area can create a more fitted, feminine shape. Some don't dart the bra cup, it depends on your choice)
* I placed the front and back bodice on the floor to shape them according to her measurements. After marking the pieces, I sewed them together at the machine. I repeated the process for the lining and then joined the main fabric and lining, sewing them together.
* I moved on to attaching the bra cups. I pinned the bra cups to the fabric and sewed them to the lining. Since I didn't have hemming gum, I pinned the edges to create a fold while stitching around the cup. After securing the cups, I attached to the bodice and this is the result.
* She requested loops instead of eyelets, so I measured and cut 12 pieces, each 1 inch long. I marked the loop placement carefully to ensure accuracy and then attached all the loops along the corset.
* After completing the loops, I decided to add a bias binding around the bra area for a finished look. I measured around the area, cut 1-inch strips and sewed them in place, achieving a neat finish.
AND GUYS THIS IS MY FINAL RESULT
She paired it with suit trousers and a white shirt, creating a simple yet stylish casual look. This versatile piece can be dressed with a tie or paired with a skirt for a different vibe. You can wear it to church, outings with friends or even to the offices.
