Una de las cosas que más me alegra es poder haber terminado mi conjunto de franela y pantalón Palazzo. La semana pasada les conté sobre cómo me fue al escoger la tela para el conjunto y lo que más me gustaba de ella. Hoy les traigo la realización de la franela para terminar el conjunto que tanto había deseado.

One of the things I'm most happy about is being able to finish my flannel and Palazzo pants outfit. Last week I told you about how I went about choosing the fabric for the outfit and what I liked most about it. Today I bring you the realization of the flannel to finish the outfit I had wanted so much.
La franela la hice bastante sencilla en realidad. Solo tomé mi patrón base de franela de dama y corté las piezas delantera, trasera y las mangas.

The flannel was actually quite simple. I just took my lady's flannel base pattern and cut out the front, back and sleeve pieces.

Yo soy comúnmente talla L y en alguna que otra prenda puedo ser M, pero como esta tela Rib tiene una muy buena elongación corté todas las piezas del patrón en talla S. Y te puedo decir que me quedó perfecta la franela.
I am usually a size L and in some garments I may be a M, but as this Rib fabric has a very good elongation I cut all the pattern pieces in size S. And I can tell you that I got a perfect flannel.
Cuando las telas tienen suficiente elongación se puede jugar de esta forma con las tallas. Es decir, podrías cortar tu tela en una talla menor a la tuya, pues la elasticidad de la tela hará que se amolde muy bien a tu cuerpo. Claro, si deseas la puedes cortar igualmente a tu talla, lo único es que probablemente te quede un poco holgada. Si la deseas así, la puedes dejar así, si la quieres más estrecha o más ajustada a tu cuerpo entonces la puedes cortar en una talla menor a tu talla (como te dije anteriormente).
When fabrics have enough elongation you can play with sizing in this way. That is, you could cut your fabric in a size smaller than yours, because the elasticity of the fabric will make it mold very well to your body. Of course, you can still cut it to your size if you wish, the only thing is that it will probably be a little baggy. If you want it like this, you can leave it like this, if you want it narrower or tighter to your body then you can cut it in a size smaller than your size (as I said before).
Esto no sucede con las telas rígidas o planas, es decir, esas telas que no se estiran, pues en esos casos más bien la tela pudiera necesitar que le demos un par de centímetros más al tamaño de nuestra talla para poder meterla bien en nuestro cuerpo o colocarle un cierre para poder meterla y sacarla con más facilidad.
This does not happen with rigid or flat fabrics, that is, those fabrics that do not stretch, because in those cases the fabric might need a couple of centimeters more than the size of our size to be able to put it well in our body or place a zipper to be able to put it in and take it out more easily.
Otra cosa muy buena de esta tela es que no tuve necesidad de pasar una puntada de zigzag por todo el borde de la tela, que es algo que normalmente hacemos con otras telas para dar un mejor acabado o para evitar que la tela se deshilache, pues esta tela Rib no se deshilacha para nada. Así que solo tuve pasar costura recta para unir cada pieza, tal cual lo haces con cualquier franela que estés haciendo.
Another great thing about this fabric is that I didn't need to zigzag stitch all the way around the edge of the fabric, which is something we normally do with other fabrics to give a better finish or to keep the fabric from fraying, because this Rib fabric doesn't fray at all. So I just had to go straight stitch to join each piece together, just like you do with any flannel you're making.

Por otro lado, les puedo decir que estoy muy, muy feliz de haber logrado esta meta que me propuse hace un tiempo. De verdad que cuando vi el conjunto terminado no podía creer que ya lo hubiera hecho. Fue un sueño hecho realidad, en todo el sentido de la palabra.
On the other hand, I can tell you that I am very, very happy to have achieved this goal that I set for myself some time ago. Really, when I saw the finished outfit I couldn't believe I had already done it. It was a dream come true, in every sense of the word.
Y es que los sueños, mis queridos amigos artistas, se trabajan, es decir, requieren acción de nuestra parte. Eso lo he comprobado en mi caso. Cumplir metas conlleva a veces sacrificios, sacrificios como: el tiempo que se le invierte al proyecto, aprender como hacerlo de mejor forma y es inversión de dinero también. Pero he podido ver que cada sacrificio vale la pena cuando vemos esa meta alcanzada, ese sueño cumplido.
And the fact is that dreams, my dear artist friends, are worked, that is to say, they require action on our part. I have proven that in my case. Fulfilling goals sometimes entails sacrifices, sacrifices such as: the time invested in the project, learning how to do it in a better way and it is also an investment of money. But I have been able to see that every sacrifice is worth it when we see that goal achieved, that dream fulfilled.
Es verdad, no todo tenemos las mismas circunstancias, pero la idea es hacer lo que podemos con lo que tenemos y de a paso a paso ir alcanzando lo que podemos con lo que tenemos. No desistas. Creí en ti. Confía. En un abrir y cerrar de ojos estarás logrando aquello por lo que tanto trabajaste 💜
It is true, not all of us have the same circumstances, but the idea is to do what we can with what we have and step by step to achieve what we can with what we have. Do not give up. Believe in yourself. Trust. In the blink of an eye you will be achieving what you worked so hard for 💜
