Last Christmas, the Hive PH community held an online exchange gift. Picking the names was done virtually and some of the gifts which were in the form of cash/hive/hbd were also done virtually. I, on the other hand chose to ship out my gift to the person I picked. Luckily, the one who picked me also chose to ship out her gift to me because I love opening gifts. This is most probably one of the reasons why I have so much online purchases.
My crochet sister did a great job in surprising me with her gift. She indirectly asked me what I wanted for Christmas. Not only did she give me the very thing I told her, she even gave a gift for my little one. Even more surprisingly, another gift came with it. Something wrinkly was inside the package. I thought it was suman, but I know Jonalyn would have known that suman would go bad in the packaging. Looking closely, it's an almost withered eggplant with a bow around it. 🍆 It turns out Adam also sent me this surprise. Though it was almost a goner, I was still able to salvage a few seeds, one of them grew and is still growing at this moment. It was a nice eggplant surprise though. I have yet to get back at you for this
! 😅
Meet Sash, a cute looking little dolly for my little one from her tita Jonalyn. It was around this time when we lost our little Sasha and my daughter has been crying herself to sleep. When she got the dolly, her attention shifted to her dolls. She named this one Sash. She loves it so much because of all the joints that make her able to move the parts of the doll according to how she want them to pose. The doll came in naked though. So my little one went on to draw the dress she wanted her doll to have.
I remembered when I was a young kid about her age, I also used to draw dresses for my dolls. I had paper dolls though which were much easier to dress, no sewing necessary. My Ma would kill me if I tinkered with her sewing machine. My daughter wanted a blue skirt and a black 3/4 sleeved top. She added some floral designs on the skirt as well. Being that this is a small doll, it was just a quick project. She has lined up some more designs but wanted me to wait for her next order of dolls. Yes, she requested for a toddler doll and another grownup doll for her to play with. We now have a whole community of dolls in our play area.
The skirt consists mainly of double crochets from the yarn I won from an online raffle. It's a soft cotton yarn so it's really soft and would be a bit flowy if I made it into a balloon skirt. I learned a way to crochet hearts into double crochets which somehow also look like flowers so I guess that works. The top though was a bit more challenging. It was hard to put it on the doll's torso because I chose to make an un-adjustable top. She 3/4 sleeves did not make it any easier.
I still managed to fit it into the doll. While my daughter is doing her chores, I took the time to take a few snaps on her newly dressed doll. It's so much fun playing with the doll, making it do different poses, my inner child is very much happy.
My daughter hasn't shown me the new designs she has in mind, I'll just look at her portfolio once the new dolls arrive. Until then, we're just gonna have to content ourselves with Sash and her friends.
