My sister requested for a crochet swimsuit she planned on wearing as an OOTD for their summer outing this year. I haven't tried making one but I'm always up for a challenge when it comes to crocheting. This is how we learn. We encounter something new, something we have no idea how to do YET, we try and experiment, sometimes we fail, but we will surely learn something new.
So the first thing I needed to learn is how to make the cup. So then, I followed the instructions for the cups from this tutorial.
I had to put a stop to this project for a couple of months because of all the things that happened. I even had to put off writing about this crochet top because it kinda sucks not being able to enjoy the summertime with all that's been happening. And I've been a bit occupied with the crochet earsavers.
But anyways, this crochet top made it to the finish line. Well, almost to the finish line because the only time its purpose will be fulfilled is if it feels the waves of the sea and gets dirtied in the sands at the beach. But oh well, this is life. This outfit will have to wait till the lockdown is lifted.
Of course, the cups will not feel right and look right if it doesn't have enough designs. So I freehanded the design around it. I mentioned earlier that this was intended for my sister. But since she's unable to come visit, I went ahead and reconfigured the crochet top to fit me. I asked for her permission, of course, but it was more of like an FYI.
The design were just a couple of chains, dc's and hdc's but I had some troubles with the balancing and pairs. I almost wanted to redo the entire thing completely but my ego got the better of me.
And so here I am, wearing my crochet swimsuit top. Funny thing my kid said while she was looking at me. She said, "Nanay, your tummy is big. It's because I was a baby in there before and I was kicking and rolling." She can't get over the fact that she lived inside me for months. But I had to correct her about my tummy situation. "Yes, dear. You were in my tummy before. But it was all the rice and the fries that made it big now." Children can be so funny and blunt at times. So innocent. Yet still can make us adults self conscious. LOL
