So last week, I was able to make 40 pieces of earsavers which was sent to a hospital near us. But then I wanted to make some more but being me, I got bored with the repettitive process of endless double crochets. So I went to a magical place where all my learnings begin: youtube.
Everyday is always an opportunity to learn somerhing new. I found out about the asterisk stitch and thought it would look lovely for those earsavers. The video didn't have instructions (I did not follow the links because I was too excited to try out the stitch right away). I got confused a little bit along the way but finally understood how to do the asterisk stitch.
It starts with 26 stitches. You may do more than that, it's totally up to you. Then sc4tog starting on the 2nd chain from the hook. That means you sc on 4 chains together. If you get confused, always remember that you should have 5 loops on your hook before you pull them all together.
Theb after that, insert your hook on the stitch you made when you made your sc4tog, yarn over, insert your hook on the last chain you unserted your sc4tog from, then yarn over insert in the next chain, and yarn over, insert kn the next chain. There should again be 5 loops on your crochet hook. Pull them together. Continue until you are on the last chain. Hdc on the last chain.
Chain 2 and then turn your work. Hdc twice on the last sc4tog stitch you worked on. continue until the last one. You should clearlg see the asterisk stitch forming.
And that's it! you have the base for your earsavers. All that's left to do would be to attach the buttons. I ran out of buttons already so I'm making crochet buttons. I'll share that tomorrow. For now, I have to get my kid ready for bed, then it's night night time.
Good night everyone! Stay indoors, practice social distancing, wash your hands.
