Hello there needleworkers! How are you all today? Here's my entry for today. It's a crocheted bag with a ooden handle. The thread is quite thick but I don't know the name. It's like a thin flat cord. Actually, it was shipped by my late hubby when he was still working in California. I was so excited to make a bag out of it though it was really a stuggle on my part since the thread was thick and I preferred to have a single chain to make it sturdy. My bad... but I only have myself to blame though the result was good.
The circumference is about 27 inches and it went on and on until I ran out of thread. I had the plain one in dark blue which I made for the base in oval shape. It was supposed to be a tube bag but I changed my mind. The good thing is that when you make the body, the base actually does the final shaping.
I've managed to lock the ends. The sad thing was that I couldn't arrive into a fixed decision on what to do next.
You see, I couldn't decide whether to put on a zipper or not and what kind of handle I would invent to match my creation! In times such as this, I do not proceed with it until there's something that sparks in my mind. That is the main reason why it was in my 'hidden treasures' for a decade. Imagine that! I guess you agree with me when there are moments that you just couldn't reach to final decisions of what you're doing. For me, I have lots of them in my box! lol!
Well, I only look for them when I already have something in mind and this is one of those days.
At last, I decided to place a wooden handle for my handy bag instead of making a shoulder bag because in my own opinion, it just wouldn't fit.
I made a temporary stitching so I can see how it would look like before I make the final closing. It's good that I have a white thread that matched with it.
Now, the thread went along well...
Then I crocheted tiny buds for little accent.
Will that be okay now? I still couldn't decide whether to put on a zipper or not so I preferred to let it stay that way until I can decide on what to use to close it. Perhaps I can crochet a little patch later. I have a rounded coconut buckle but I don't think it will match the wooden handle. For the maintime, it will be that way until I can find the right material. It will look good in flat structure as shown above or with angle as shown below.
See, it looks nice too. With all the uncertainties, I have finally created her and I love the result! A little natural plastic varnish will do for the wooden handle but I like it that way though. I think I will give it to Antonia's mom as her Christmas present when she comes home after 8 long months of being locked down in Cebu!
I hope you like it guys! Thanks for dropping by and my special to ,
