I recently realized a small dream of creating a mini collection of decorative objects to put on my website. I've been writing about decoration for 5 years on my social networks and as things have evolved, this year I finally managed to get a website up and running. I did it all by myself and actually, when I think about it, I can't believe it.
Then, after the website was launched, I wanted to diversify the items I was selling and decided to create a collection of cushions, as a test for something bigger in the future.
So I bought some fabrics and used others from a personal collection, which contained scraps collected over the years since I had a thrift store.
Cottage core aesthetic
As I'm still getting to grips with sewing, I hired a professional seamstress to make the pieces. My job was to choose the fabric combinations and design the cushions. My main inspiration for this was the cottage core style, an aesthetic with which I identify a lot.
I wanted to create a whole concept around the launch of this small collection and named it "Lille", even creating a fictional character for it. Well, at least in my head it made sense. The cushions are all unique pieces and there will be no identical copies or replacements of the same models.
I took lots and lots of photos to promote my collection. The ones posted above were used for e-commerce and the ones I'll post below were taken for my social networks.
Campaign and marketing
And if you want to see the videos I produced for the campaign, you can check out my brand's website and also my instagram. As a visual artist, I'm very attached to aesthetics and I think that being careful in the production of the promotional materials and creating a concept around them made all the difference in drawing people's attention.
Here you can see some promotional banners for the site and also a little of the aesthetic I created for the video, "acting" myself as the character that gives the collection its name.
I know that it was very difficult to be the creative director of a collection, filming, acting, editing, photographing and promoting everything on my own, and that's why I'm very fond of this job. It reminds me that I can learn many new skills to put my creations out into the world and pursue my dreams.
I hope I've inspired you in some way, especially when it comes to promoting your beautiful textile work.
See ya ❤️
