Today I’ll be sharing with you guys a just concluded outfit i did for one of my client actually its a lovely design and it’s call (safari)I know most of you would be wondering why and how did the name safari came about 😂 actually from the little I know this outfit belongs to the western part of my country Nigeria 🇳🇬 which are the Yorubas, this outfit and the name generated there it was mostly and commonly worn by them then after others adopted the style but the name which the Yoruba’s gave it still stands even to other tribes So that was how the name and the outfit came about so guys I’ll be sharing how I made this outfit in just a go! Stay relaxed and enjoy the session!!!
Items I used:
- Capet material
- Collar gum
- Tissue gum
- Fancy buttons
- Matching thread 🧵
Sew processes;
First step,
After all the above listed items were provided I processed to the cutting of the material, like I always say guys before cutting any material considerations matters a lot to avoid replacing someone’s material with yours 😂 so I do consider a lot of things like, the person’s measurement, how to place my pattern, how will I sew the cloth all this things are to be considered to avoid spoil someone’s cloth or making mistakes at the end. Like I introduced earlier am going to be showing you guys how I sewed this “safari”, actually it’s more like a shirt with buttons and collars so we’ll be cutting and sewing it like a shirt but mind you! it’s not a shirt ooo 😂 ( the tiger 🐅 might portray the qualities of a lion does it mean that the tiger is now a lion and can rule the jungle?🤷🏽 no! 😂 ) that’s by the way, let’s proceed. So we’ll use the same pattern of cutting a normal shirt to cut this “safari” so now how to cut a senator kaftan is deferent from how to cut a safari shirt in safari shirt before adding the measurement you’ll have to measure out 2inches and bend it inside first for the buttons and button holes to clip at the front while in senator kaftan you fold the material into two and take measurement and cut so after I had done that in my shirt, I move to taking the full measurement and I cut it out, I use the front I just finished cutting to cut out the back view too, cut the hand and the back turning too.
Next step:
After cutting,I took the front and I bend in the 2inches and form the button and the button holes pot.
Next step:
I took the material and I cut it in a slanting form and I apply the tissue gum on the back side, I bend it by 4.7 inches size and 5.5inches length and I did two and I pasted it on the front side.
After that I did the pocket cover same size as the pocket itself and I sewed it to the top of the pocket. I then joined the both shoulders, trimmed the shoulders for the sleeves and after inserting the sleeves I joined the both sizes in my client body measurement and then after I used the collar come to make the band for the sleeves and also to prepare the collar for the neck
and the outfit was fully ready!!
I sincerely apologize for not including the rounding up pictures of this outfit, I mean the finish look of it, I manage to finish this cloth with so much difficulty when I was terribly sick at that time I couldn’t take pictures much I really wasn’t strong to move around as usual and take pictures in every step and have missed out in most steps so guys do accept my apologies with folded hands 🙏🏽🤦🏽😞
Have a blessed week ahead and a prosperous day too !!!!
