Hello to all members of this community and sewing enthusiasts! I'm a huge fan of recycling, and since I first started enjoying crafts, I've had to make do with the few materials I had on hand, using every last scrap. This time, I'd like to show you an idea for using fabric scraps, felt, ribbons, lace, and other sewing materials to make a cute pocket sewing kit; perfect for keeping in your bag when traveling and saving you from any sewing emergencies that might arise while you're away from home.

The materials I used were scraps of fabric. They can be solid colors or patterned, and any type you like. For this design, I decided to make it rectangular, although it can be made in any shape you want. I cut a base piece (the red one, which is a thicker fabric), some patterned fabric scraps for the outside, a solid color for the inside, another patterned piece for an inside pocket, as well as scraps of ribbon, lace, and some felt shapes that I cut from scraps I had saved.

The first thing I did was join the pieces of fabric that would go on the outside, and to cover the seam, I sewed a patterned ribbon along with some lace. Then, on what would be the inside pocket, I sewed another patterned ribbon and lace as decoration, as well as the label I add to the pieces I make from scratch. Around the edge of the pocket, I sewed a thin ribbon, and finally, I sewed the pocket to the solid-color fabric that I had previously sewn onto the thick fabric piece, using a seam down the middle to divide the pocket.
The felt shapes I cut were ideal for holding needles and pins, so I attached them to the inside of the sewing box (next to the pocket I showed you); I also added a small piece of ribbon, sewing only along the sides of the ribbon.
Next, I joined the outer and inner covers and added a ribbon along the sides to close the sewing box. For the edges, I used grosgrain ribbon as bias tape.
And that's how the sewing kit was finished. As you can see, it's quite simple to make, and we can add other materials, like elastic, to store any item inside.
In my case, I placed some colored threads on small cardboard pieces, and I also bought colored pins, needles, and buttons to put inside the sewing kits. I sewed the buttons on with a loose stitch so they can be removed easily. I'd like to get measuring tapes and small scissors to add to them as well, but so far, I haven't found them.
I admit, it was a fun project, so I couldn't stop at just one, so I made five more, ending up with half a dozen different colors. I used up scraps of patterned ribbon that were too small for other projects, but that I loved and didn't want to throw away.
As I mentioned, it's ideal for travel and as a gift for a loved one. My sister gave me a small plastic pocket sewing kit a while ago, which was a lifesaver when I went to cosplay events and didn't have my sewing supplies. When I saw a woman break the handle of her purse right in front of me, I thought to myself, "Oh, this was the perfect moment to have a sewing kit in my purse!" haha. Anyway... I really enjoyed making them, so I was thinking about using these designs to make wallets or other items. I'm not sure yet. What do you think? ¡Hola a todos los integrantes de esta comunidad y amantes de la costura! Soy fanática del reciclaje, siendo que desde que comenzó mi gusto por las manualidades, tuve que arreglármelas la mayoría del tiempo, con los pocos materiales que tenía a disposición, aprovechando al máximo hasta el último pedacito. En esta oportunidad me gustaría mostrarles una idea para utilizar tanto los retazos de tela, como de fieltro, cintas, encajes, entre otros materiales de costura, para elaborar un lindo costurero de bolsillo; ideal para tener en el bolso para viajes y salvarnos de cualquier emergencia de costura que pudiera presentársenos cuando estemos fuera de casa.

Los materiales que usé, fueron trocitos de tela. Pueden ser unicolores o estampadas, así como del tipo que deseemos. Para este diseño, pensé en elaborarlo rectangular, aunque pueden realizarse con la forma que deseemos. Corté una pieza base (la roja, la cual es una tela más gruesa), unos trocitos de tela estampada para la parte externa, una unicolor para la interna, otro trocito estampado para un bolsillo interno, así como retazos de cintas, encajes y algunas figuras de fieltro que corté de trocitos que tenía guardado.

Lo primero que hice, fue empatar los trocitos de tela que irían en la parte externa y para cubrir la costura, le cosí una cinta estampada junto a encaje. Luego, en lo que sería el bolsillo interno, cosí otra cinta estampada y encaje, a modo de decoración, así como la etiqueta que le coloco a las piezas que elaboro desde cero. En el borde del bolsillo, cosí un cinta delgada y finalmente, cosí el bolsillo a la tela unicolor que previamente había cosido en la pieza de tela gruesa, pasando una costura en el medio para dividir el bolsillo.
Las figuras de fieltro que corté, eran ideales para encajar agujas y alfileres, así que las anexé en la parte interna del costurero (al lado del bolsillo que les mostré); así como le añadí un trocito de cinta, pasando una costura únicamente en los laterales de la cinta.
Seguidamente, uní la tapa externa e interna y le agregué una cinta en los laterales para que sirviera para cerrar el costurero. Para los bordes, utilicé cinta Gross a modo de sesgo.
Y de esta forma, el costurero estuvo listo. Como pueden ver, es algo sencillo de realizar y podemos anexarle otro tipo de material, como goma, para que se guarde cualquier objeto en su interior.
En mi caso, coloqué en unos cartoncitos, algunos hilos de colores, así como compre alfileres, agujas y botones de colores, para colocarlos dentro de los costureros. Para los botones, los cosí con una costura suelta, de modo que puedan sacarse sin mucha dificultad. Me gustaría conseguir cintas métricas y tijeras pequeñas para colocárselas también, pero hasta los momentos, no las he encontrado.
Lo admito, fue un proyecto divertido, así que no pude quedarme con elaborar uno solo, así que realicé cinco más, teniendo la media docena de colores variados. Aproveché retazos de cintas estampados que eran muy pequeños para otro tipo de proyectos, pero que me encantaban y no deseaba desechar.
Como mencioné, es ideal para viajes y dar como obsequio a un ser querido. Mi hermana me regaló hace un tiempo un costurero de bolsillo de plástico que me salvó cuando iba a eventos con mis cosplay y no tenía mis implementos de costura y cuando presencié en la calle como a una señora se le rompía el asa de su bolso frente a mí, me dije a mi misma "Oh, este era el momento perfecto para tener un costurero en el bolso" jaja En fin... me gustó mucho hacerlos, así que pensaba en usar este tipo de diseños para hacer billeteras u otras piezas, aún no lo sé ¿Qué opinan? ¿Podría volverse un accesorio indispensable a la hora de salir? 🧵✂️
