🇪🇸 ~ ¡Hola a todxs!, espero estén teniendo un agradable fin de semana 💕 hoy continuamos esta serie de post derivados del desglosamiento de mi proyecto de "Lady Oscar", un Cosplay que realice con técnicas alternativas en vista que algunos materiales no estaban disponibles en las tiendas de mi ciudad.

🇪🇸 ~ Hello everyone!, I hope you're having a nice weekend 💕 today we continue this series of posts derived from the breakdown of my "Lady Oscar " project, a cosplay I made with alternative techniques since some materials were not available in the stores in my city.

El post de hoy trata sobre la elaboración de toda la chaqueta, verán cameos del uso de las plantillas que elabore en el post anterior; esta fue la primera vez que hice una prenda completa de este estilo así que básicamente ésta es la experiencia desde la perspectiva de una novata, espero encuentren algo de utilidad en mi historia y si no, espero que se diviertan 😂 💞

Today's post is about the making of the whole jacket, you will see cameos of the use of the templates I made in the post above; this was the first time I made a complete garment in this style so basically this is the experience from a novice's perspective, I hope you find something useful in my story and if not, I hope you have fun 😂 💞

En el post pasado les mostré los patrones originales de papel y tela de esta prenda, en estas fotos pueden ver que los transferí a la tela principal, una entretela, y forro tafeta. Mi nivel de realizacion en este momento estaba por las nubes, porque tenia mucho miedo de arruinarlo.

In the last post I showed you the original paper and fabric patterns for this garment, in these photos you can see that I transferred them to the main fabric, an interlining, and taffeta lining. My level of accomplishment at this point was through the roof, because I was so afraid of ruining it.

Algo que me sucede desde que empecé a coser (cuando era muy amateur) y ni siquiera sabia lo que era una sisa, es que las mangas y la conexión con el hombro se me hace extremadamente difícil, nunca queda como quiero o queda demasiado rígido, y aunque haga 10 patrones diferentes no logro que luzca como quiero, aunque supuestamente los hombros de este tipo de uniforme y chaqueta siempre se ve rígido o se deforma si alzas los brazos, eso me dicen pero no estoy convencida, seguramente hay una mejor forma de hacerlo pero no la he conocido aún.

Something that happens to me since I started sewing (when I was very amateur) and I didn't even know what an armhole was, is that the sleeves and the connection with the shoulder is extremely difficult for me, it never looks like I want or it is too stiff, and even if I make 10 different patterns I can't make it look like I want, although supposedly the shoulders of this type of uniform and jacket always looks stiff or deforms if you raise your arms, so I am told but I am not convinced, surely there is a better way to do it but I haven't known it yet.

Esta parte la disfrute mucho porque una vez mas, al haber invertido mucho esfuerzo en los patrones permitió que unir todas las piezas coincidieran perfectamente (SE SINTIO MUY BIEN AJAJAJA VICTORIA), y en aquel tiempo yo sufría de un marcado TOC (que se podía poner muy mal por ver cosas asimétricas, sucias y desorganizadas).

This part I really enjoyed because once again, having invested a lot of effort into the patterns allowed all the pieces to match perfectly (IT FEELED SO GOOD HAHAHAHAHAHAHA VICTORY), and at the time I was suffering from severe OCD (which could get really bad from seeing things asymmetrical, messy and disorganized).

Cuando empecé a unir la parte interna con la externa poco a poco la ansiedad bajo a cero y fue reemplazada con una alegría que todavía me cuesta trabajo explicar. Una cosa es pensar en un proyecto y otra que quede como lo soñamos; en el camino vas aceptando los errores, los desperfectos, las cosas que no encajan, incluso te haces a la idea de que no quedara bien para no decepcionarte o aceptar los resultados elegantemente con resiliencia.

When I started to join the internal and external parts, little by little the anxiety went down to zero and was replaced with a joy that I still have a hard time explaining. It is one thing to think about a project and another to make it look the way we dreamed it; along the way you accept the mistakes, the flaws, the things that do not fit, you even get used to the idea that it will not look good so as not to be disappointed or to accept the results elegantly with resilience.

Si algo pudiera corregir en este diseño, sería agregar un extra de entretela a la parte del pecho mas alta, y a la espalda. Hace poco me ocurrió algo curioso:

If there is one thing I could correct in this design, it would be to add an extra interlining to the upper part of the chest and to the back. A funny thing happened to me recently:

Mi padre es militar y aunque mi contacto con el es escaso, por no decir nulo, desde hace años tenemos guardado algunos de sus uniformes militares, por ejemplo la chaqueta que utilizaba cuando trabajaba haciendo guardia en la frontera, y el uniforme de gala de la academia.

My father is a military man and although my contact with him is scarce, if not null, for years we have kept some of his military uniforms, for example the jacket he used when he worked as a guard at the border, and the dress uniform of the academy.

Sucede que hace unas semanas quise lavar TODO, pero ABSOLUTAMENTE TODO lo que fuera ropa sucia que estuviera en la casa, sin importar si era ropa vieja o ropa que usábamos pocas veces, simplemente quería que toda la lavandería estuviera despejada y limpia.

It just so happens that a few weeks ago I wanted to wash EVERY, but ABSOLUTELY EVERYTHING that was dirty laundry that was in the house, no matter if it was old clothes or clothes we wore only a few times, I just wanted the entire laundry room to be clear and clean.

Entonces mientras revisaba las bolsas o cestas de ropa, encontré en un envoltorio especial estos uniformes de mi papa, y no sabemos como sucedió, pero lamentablemente un hongo muy peligroso prolifero allí. Me negué a desecharlo y lave todos dos veces en la lavadora, pero fue imposible sacarle el olor o higienizarlo...

Then while going through the laundry bags or baskets, I found in a special wrapper these uniforms of my dad, and we don't know how it happened, but unfortunately a very dangerous fungus proliferated there. I refused to throw them away and washed them all twice in the washing machine, but it was impossible to get the smell out or to sanitize them...

Como no tenía arreglo, pero son artículos que por su origen y tipo no puedes botar a la basura así como así, me dedique a sacarle todas las condecoraciones, medallas, insignias, pines, broches, también los botones.

As it was beyond repair, but they are items that because of their origin and type you cannot throw away just like that, I took out all the decorations, medals, badges, pins, pins, brooches, and buttons.

Aunque retiré todos los apliques especiales, mi mamá me explico que debía desarmarlo por completo para que nadie pudiera colocárselo en caso de encontrarlo; le vi sentido y eso hice. A medida que lo desarme, me di cuenta de su complejísima y preciosa confección, encontré zonas con 5 capas de diferentes materiales que explicaban su solida forma tan regia.

Although I removed all the special appliqués, my mom explained to me that I should take it completely apart so that no one could put it on if they found it; I saw the sense in that and so I did. As I disassembled it, I realized its very complex and precious construction, I found areas with 5 layers of different materials that explained its solid and regal shape.

Esto me dio una visión de primera mano de cómo debí ejecutar mi chaqueta para Oscar, que escasamente solo cuenta con dos capas de tela y una entre tela.

This gave me a first-hand view of how I should execute my jacket for Oscar, which barely has only two layers of fabric and one in between.

Después de ese episodio, definitivamente me siento mas preparada para las próximas versiones que quiero hacer de este personaje, pues Oscar tiene muchos hermosos uniformes militares a lo largo de toda la obra del manga (desde su juventud, hasta el momento de su muerta durante la toma de La Bastilla).

After that episode, I definitely feel more prepared for the next versions I want to do of this character, as Oscar has many beautiful military uniforms throughout the manga (from his youth, to the moment of his death during the storming of the Bastille).

Para concluir, les adelanto que la chaqueta me quedo como anillo al dedo, tuve que hacerla un poco ancha de la cintura para no verme demasiado femenina pues en el manga se supone que Oscar se hace pasar por hombre, aunque su belleza hace dudar a muchos compañeros a su alrededor sobre si realmente es un hombre.

To conclude, I'll tell you that the jacket fit me like a glove, I had to make it a little wide at the waist so as not to look too feminine because in the sleeve Oscar is supposed to pretend to be a man, although his beauty makes many colleagues around him doubt if he is really a man.
