Inspired by the sakura trees blooming around us, the idea struck me when I saw a traditional button made of a ring with a tree in it being sold at a sewing shop for £10 each. I asked how it was made, but was told I needed to take their course when available. Unable to wait, I looked online but found none for the buttons, although I did find a few for wall decor. However, I managed to grasp the idea and decided to apply the basic technique to a bracelet for practice. I didn't follow a pattern, so I can only show how I did it.
I started with an old bangle.
First, I measured the diameter three times to determine the base length.
I measured 40 pieces of the same size.
Then, I trimmed the ends for equal lengths.
I stabilized the ring using tape.
I tied them onto the ring. Fold in half, both ends through the loop.
I separated them into top and bottom sections. A crochet hook made this easier than using my fingers.
Next, I twisted each group of about 5 strands. Wetting them made this process easier.
I clipped them to secure the initial few twists.
After twisting them together,
I secured the assembly with a tie.
For the trunk, I twisted the bottom section and made a knot at the very end.
I secured this with stitches.
To create the flowers, I laid threads underneath, tied them, and cut in between, then fluff them up.
I tied these onto the tree, using a small crochet hook to pick the threads in between.
Finally, I decided to micro crochet around the silver ring, which actually helped stabilize the threads.
It feels rewarding to see the final piece come together.
It captures the essence of nature.
Thank you for looking.
Have a wonderful day full of creativity and joy!
