Today, I was taught to make a baby nest or crib at a sewing workshop. Here are the complete steps for making a baby nest or crib:
Materials needed:
- Fabric
- Foam
- Sewing thread and needle
- Scissors
Step 1: Fold the square fabric into a triangle, then cut it to form a circle. Make sure the cut is symmetrical.
Step 2: Make three circles with diameters of 30 cm, 45 cm and 60 cm respectively on the fabric. The first circle (30 cm) is 30 cm from the center of the fabric, the second circle (45 cm) is 15 cm from the first circle, and the third circle (60 cm) is 15 cm from the second circle.
Step 3: Sew the center of the fabric with small stitches. And then sew the 4 sides of the first circle (30 cm) with small stitches to create a puffy feel to the pillow. Make sure the stitches are neat and tight so they don't come loose when inserting the foam.
Step 4: Sew around the second circle (45 cm) with an insertion distance of 10 cm. Leave a stitch width of 10 cm on one side.
Step 5: Insert the foam in the second circle (45 cm) through the inserts made earlier. Make sure the foam lies flat and does not fold over.
Step 6: Sew the remaining width with straight stitches. Make sure the stitches are strong and neat so that the foam does not come out.
Step 7: Sew lengthwise on the third circle (60 cm) into 16 pieces. See the picture for more details.
Step 8: Cut 16 pieces of foam, the same size as the stitches on the third circle.
Step 9: Insert each piece of foam into the fabric pieces on the third circle. Make sure the foam lies flat and does not fold over.
Step 10: Sew around the third circle. Make sure the stitches are strong and neat so that the foam does not come out.
Step 11: Make a buttonhole on one side of the fabric that has not been sewn. This buttonhole will be used to insert the string or ribbon that will fasten the baby nest.
Step 12: Sew around the remaining fabric by covering it with another piece of fabric.
Step 13: Insert the string or ribbon into the previously made buttonhole and pull.
Here comes the baby nest.
Beautiful, right?
I apologize if any of the steps are not clear, as it's a little difficult to explain the small details here. You can ask in the comment section. Thank you for your support and comments! 😊
