A few days ago, a friend of mine who has been a huge Pokémon fan all his life celebrated his birthday, so I thought of making him a handmade gift of a Pokéball. Honestly, it didn’t turn out as well as I wanted because I decided to do it at the last minute and had to rush to finish it in time. Also, since it’s all handmade, it’s slower than using a machine or other knitting techniques, but I wanted to do it using this form of embroidery called "punch needle."
[ESP] Hace unos días cumplió años un amigo que es muy fan de Pokémon desde toda la vida, así que pensé hacer un regalito hecho a mano de una pokeball. La verdad no quedó tan bien como hubiese querido porque lo decidí a último momento y lo tuve que hacer apurada para que me diera tiempo. Además como es todo hecho a mano es más lento que hacerlo usando una máquina u otra técnica para tejer, pero lo quise hacer con ésta que es una forma de bordado que se llama "punch needle".
It involves piercing the fabric with the needle, leaving loops of thread behind, forming a textured relief, kind of like a carpet or raised embroidery. So, you’re actually knitting from one side, but the front of the fabric is visible from the other side, so you're essentially knitting in reverse 🙃.
[ESP] Se usa una aguja que en español le dicen aguja china. Esta técnica se basa en perforar la tela con esa aguja que va dejando bucles de hilo por detrás, formando un relieve tipo alfombra o bordado en volumen. Es decir, se teje por un lado pero el tejido frontal realmente se ve del otro lado, por lo que vas tejiendo como al revés🙃.
It’s fun, but for certain things, it can get tricky. The nice part is that they end up looking like little cushioned rugs that you can place on a table, desk, bed, hang on the wall, or even put on the floor. Basically, it’s adaptable to anything and looks great no matter where you place it.
[ESP] Es divertido, pero para hacer ciertas cosas se complica. Lo bonito es que quedan tipo alfombritas bien acolchaditas para poner encima de una mesa, un escritorio, en la cama, en la pared colgada o incluso en el piso. Básicamente es adaptable a cualquier cosa y queda lindo de cualquier manera.
But anyway, the point is that my friend loved the gift, and fortunately, I managed to finish it on time, even though it has a few details that came from rushing, but nothing too serious😅. I took photos of the process to share. I hope you all like it...
