Sunflower garlands, everyone?
Graduation season has come and every graduate deserves a pretty graduation garland, right? This is what I have thought of, and that's why I made several of them for the people I care about and especially for my daughter who graduated last June 28
Unfortunately, I was not able to give it to her, my husband said there is no need, honestly, I finished these pieces last June 15 and I had been waiting for her graduation to come so I will include her photo on my post.
Here I am, so proud of my work
Hubby and I even modeled it, he said he will show the photo to his friends so he could sell some but I guess he got very busy with his work.
Here is how I made it
I was really impressed with sis @Jonalyn2020's flower boquets soI searched for a tutorial video and copied it.
For the design, I was inspired by the graduation garlands my husband sent me, he saw these in the store he passed by.
When he sent the photo, he was taking me what color I choose then the thought came, why not make one instead?
I tired making one at work, familiarizing the pattern, and memorizing it. Do you easily memorize patterns too? I find it fun, and I hope you do so too.
I only have an orange color yarn in my workplace so I gave it ago, it's just for practice but I find it nice too, why not? flowers can be of any color too, right? I remember dyeing a white rose to get a unique color once.
I got this pretty emerald colored yarn to pair it with but I was hoping I will be able to find a leaf green yarn in my stash.
For the cord, I only made a double V stitch, I once made my co-worker an ID lanyard and I did the same for the garland.
Tadaan! I did it so fast, I was full of inspiration and enthusiasm when did it, and it made me very happy. The lanyard is not attatache dyet, but it came out looking good already, at least for me. Do you find it pretty too?
To make the project, I did a major digging in my stash, our house is not close and we are living near a highway so it is very dusty. I wanted to display my yarns to get inspired on crochet just by looking at them but It's not possible. You put a yarn outside the plastic for a day then it will be covered in dust altering its color, and giving it an old and dirty look.
I had my husband to help me with the digging, also, I sorted and winded my yarn too, We only did a hand winding because y yarn winder got broken a few weeks back and I could not open it for repair.
I was devastated by how few the usable colors were. see how few my yarns are? Yet I still could not finish crocheting them so I could buy new ones and be more inspired again.
There are too many unfinished projects and could not finish them because there are too few colors of the same project and I forgot the plans I have for them way back then.
Oh, I miss those times when I get crochet until 3 am and finish a lot. I worked hard too much and my body took the toll, I got sick and now I am refraining to have little rest.
Luckily, I found yarns that are the perfect colors for the project; I frogged the dress I made; If you want, you can really make a way, right?
The first I made
The core is made of polyester yarn, I was I made an increase on each increase resulting in a hexagonal shape than round.
The second piece that I made is a bit rounder and bigger, I found a beige colored yarn but I felt like it is too pale for the flower core.
The flowers are not perfect but I is made with love and I poured my all into it.
It was a nice experience making these wonderful crochet garland flowers, I hope time will favor me to sell such things next year. It will be a huge happiness for me to do my passion and earn from it.
For now, I will just let the things be, but I am silently manifesting and working hard to achieve my goals. One day, I am hoping to leave my job and to focus on the things that I wanted to do in life.
What about you, do you earn from your needlework too?
Do you own a great stash at home? Do you get inspired easily just by looking at your stash?
