Feliz lunes needleworkers 😊 espero que esta semana los encuentre muy bien, ya tuve que volver al trabajo y fue una semana donde me costó bastante volver jajaja, pero bueno hay que vivir y esas cosas, por suerte en vacaciones aproveche bastante para hacerme prendas y asi es como nace el short segundas oportunidades.
Happy Monday needleworkers 😊 I hope this week finds you all doing well. I had to go back to work and it was a tough week to get back into it haha, but oh well, life goes on and on. Luckily, I took advantage of my vacation to make some clothes, and that's how the "Second Chance Shorts" were born.
Este molde ya lo usé el año pasado en un short en tela de punto, pero me quedaba un poco amplio, así que se me ocurrió que podría hacerlo en tela plana y estaría bien, y pues bueno realmente si se podía, pequeño spoiler, pero ya verán que fue lo que paso.
I already used this pattern last year for a pair of shorts in knit fabric, but they were a little too big, so I thought I could make them in woven fabric and it would be fine, and well, it actually was possible, little spoiler, but you'll see what happened.
El short es segundas oportunidades por que la tela la compré en una tienda que se encarga de recuperar tela de otros lugares, ya sea lugares de corte, talleres o casa de tela que hacen donaciones, y venden a muy buenos precios telas de buena calidad, así es como conseguí estos restos de denim para hacer este short.
The shorts are second chances because I bought the fabric at a store that reclaims fabric from other places, whether it's cutting places, workshops, or fabric stores that donate and sell good quality fabrics at very good prices. That's how I got these denim scraps to make these shorts.
Como los trozos son pequeños cosí dos para hacer uno más grande y así tener mis piezas de short.
Use una puntada decorativa para que no sea solo una unión, sino que sea una decisión de diseño directamente.
Since the pieces were small, I sewed two together to make one larger piece and thus have my shorts.I used a decorative stitch so that it wasn't just a seam, but a design choice.
Acomodé mucho los moldes para que entren bien, no quería desperdiciar ni un poco de tela así que estuve un poco acomodando todo para evitar el desperdicio, aunque todo lo que es desperdicio va a mi puff.
I arranged the patterns a lot so they would fit well; I didn't want to waste a single bit of fabric, so I spent some time arranging everything to avoid waste, although everything that is waste goes into my pouf.

Este short va a tener bolsillos traseros también y para esos use el molde de mis otros jeans, corte las vistas que van en jean y los bolsillos que los hice en lienzo de algodón, este lienzo es muy bueno así que no me molesta usarlo en ropa, pero solo lo uso en parte no visibles.
These shorts will also have back pockets, and for those I used the pattern from my other jeans. I cut the facings that go in denim and the pockets, which I made in cotton canvas. This canvas is very good, so I don't mind using it in clothing, but I only use it in parts that are not visible.
Primero se arman todos los bolsillos, los delanteros y los traseros, creo que los delanteros quedaron sumamente pequeños en el ancho, o quizás iban un poco más adelante, no lo sé, pero no me convencieron del todo, en tela de punto estos si se comportaban muy diferente, es algo que podía pasar, jamás hago una prenda sin que algo nuevo me pase jajaj pero todo es aprendizaje.
First, all the pockets are assembled, the front and the back ones. I think the front ones ended up being too small in width, or maybe they should have been a little further forward, I don't know, but I wasn't entirely convinced. In knit fabric, these behaved very differently. It's something that could happen; I never make a garment without something new happening to me, haha, but it's all a learning experience.

Todos los pespuntes son decorativos, y contra tono en blanco, es otra decisión que había que tomar, no soy tan fan del hilo del denim, tengo uno similar pero no me gusta el contraste, entiendo por qué se usa, pero no me fanatiza, pero usar hilo blanco en jean azul me parece hermoso.
All the stitching is decorative, and the white contrast is another decision that had to be made. I'm not a big fan of denim thread; I have a similar one, but I don't like the contrast. I understand why it's used, but I'm not a fanatic about it. However, using white thread on blue jeans seems beautiful to me.
Después de coser todos los bolsillos, cosí los tiros y los costados, pase overlock para cortar excedentes y evitar que se deshilache.
After sewing all the pockets, I sewed the crotch and side seams, then used an overlock stitch to trim excess fabric and prevent fraying.
La cintura y el elástico son pasos muy simples, tan simples que olvide fotografiarlos jajaja, pero es una cintura recta donde pase el elástico y cerré, al rededor hay costura con overlock.
The waistband and elastic are very simple steps, so simple that I forgot to photograph them hahaha, but it's a straight waistband where I passed the elastic and closed it, around it there is overlock stitching.
Para finalizar no hice ruedo, decidí que quería que sea más relajado y deje una puntada decorativa y que se haga un desflecado natural de la tela, siento que va bien con toda la onda del pantalón.
Finally, I didn't hem it; I decided I wanted it to be more relaxed and left a decorative stitch and a natural fraying of the fabric. I feel it goes well with the whole vibe of the pants.

Fueron bastantes horas de costura realmente, lo empecé a las 23 horas y terminé como a las 4 de la mañana jajaja masomenos fueron 5 horas, pero fue bueno, además me propuse a terminar las prendas que empiezo si o si, basta de proyectos que no llegan a su fin, es mi propuesta para este tramo del año que queda.
Seguiremos en pie con eso para el próximo año, o lo descubriremos más adelante.
It was quite a few hours of sewing, actually. I started at 11 PM and finished around 4 AM, haha, more or less 5 hours. But it was good. Plus, I've decided to finish the garments I start, no matter what. No more unfinished projects! That's my goal for the rest of the year.We'll stick with that for next year, or we'll find out later.
