🇪🇸 ~ Ya casi me pongo al día aquí en Hive con todos los eventos a los que he sido invitada o a los que he asistido hasta ahora entre 2022 y lo que llevamos de 2023 ✌ durante estas aventuras la cantidad de fotos que tomamos @Pigritia, @Vanuzza y yo son bastantes y estoy procurando compilarlas lo mejor que puedo pero sin restarle belleza a la historia.

🇺🇸 ~ I'm almost caught up here on Hive with all the events I've been invited to or attended so far between 2022 and so far in 2023 ✌ during these adventures the amount of photos taken by @Pigritia, @Vanuzza and myself are quite a few and I'm trying my best to compile them as best I can but without detracting from the beauty of the story.

A mediados de febrero más o menos fui contactada por la organización de Tomodachi Events nuevamente para ser Invitado Especial y Jurado de su pasarela Cosplay. ¡Por supuesto que acepte!, para mi es una dicha muy grande poder trabajar con personas que realmente aman el Cosplay y que tienen la bondad de abrir espacio en sus cronogramas para dedicarlo a esta expresión artística (sea en modalidades relajadas o en concursos formales a todo dar).

In mid-February or so I was contacted by the organization of Tomodachi Events again to be Special Guest and Judge of their Cosplay catwalk. Of course I accepted, for me it's a great joy to work with people who really love Cosplay and who have the kindness to open space in their schedules to dedicate it to this artistic expression (either in relaxed modalities or in formal contests).

Para esta ocasión y como la vez anterior (Bunkasai 2022) la persona encargada del área Cosplay fue súper diligente. Francis es muy buena para mantenernos a todos informados y coordinados, trabajar con ella me inspira absoluta confianza y tranquilidad, así que no tuve que preocuparme por nada siendo que ella ya tenía todo listo en cuanto a reglamentos y planillas de evaluación.

For this occasion and as last time (Bunkasai 2022) the person in charge of the Cosplay area was super diligent. Francis is very good at keeping us all informed and coordinated, working with her inspires me absolute confidence and tranquility, so I didn't have to worry about anything since she already had everything ready in terms of regulations and evaluation forms.

Los días de evento donde trabajamos @Pigritia y yo siempre se sienten como un baile bien practicado durante las primeras horas: El día anterior todo esta embalado y listo (cosplay lavado y planchado, armadura en sus estuches dentro de la maleta, maquillaje ordenado y limpio y peluca estilizada).

The event days where @Pigritia and I work always feel like a well-practiced dance during the first few hours: The day before everything is packed and ready (cosplay washed and ironed, armor in its cases inside the suitcase, makeup neat and tidy and wig styled).

Para este evento contratamos de nuevo los servicios de Yoeby Makeup y sería la 3era vez que trabajamos juntas (100% recomendada). Y con mucha pena confieso que salí casi con 1 hora de retraso de camerino por un pequeño imprevisto con uno de los sujetadores de la armadura (pero @Pigritia es extremadamente diligente y consiguió prestado una herramienta dentro del evento, estoy super agradecida con ella y con la chica misteriosa que la ayudo, NECESITO ENCONTRAR SU NOMBRE).

For this event we hired again the services of Yoeby Makeup and it would be the 3rd time we worked together (100% recommended). And with much regret I confess that I left the dressing room almost 1 hour late due to a small unforeseen issue with one of the armor fasteners (but @Pigritia is extremely diligent and managed to borrow a tool inside the event, I am super grateful to her and to the mystery girl who helped her, I NEED TO FIND HER NAME).

Algo muy agradable de ese día fue que el flujo de personas y la disposición de los locales y el recinto del evento me permitió pasear cómodamente hasta la hora del concurso. También algo muy lindo que sucedió es que algunas personas me regalaban chocolates y yo no entendía porqué (pasando pena); resulta que la Tomodachi White Day tiene dinámicas propias del tema "White Day", y una de ellas es que le regales chocolates a tu personaje favorito (yo fui de Arturia Pendragon, y un amigo Cosplayer de otro estado me envió con una compañera Cosplayer un chocolate, ¡quedé en shoooock! MUCHAS GRACIAS ZOA 💕 💕 💕

Something very nice about that day was that the flow of people and the layout of the venues and the event venue allowed me to walk around comfortably until the time of the contest. Also something very nice that happened is that some people were giving me chocolates and I didn't understand why (passing pity); it turns out that the Tomodachi White Day has its own dynamics of the "White Day" theme, and one of them is that you give chocolates to your favorite character (I was from Arturia Pendragon, and a Cosplayer friend from another state sent me with a fellow Cosplayer a chocolate, I was in shoooock! THANK YOU SO MUCH ZOA 💕 💕 💕

Por experiencias anteriores he comprobado que el mejor momento para subir a la cámara 360° es durante las primeras horas del evento, siento que éste fue uno de los mejores videos que he logrado hasta ahora (aún no lo subo a mi Instagram, pero lo hare próximamente) y las fotos que tomó @Pigritia desde lejos son Σ(･o･;) ﾊｯ!

From past experience I have found that the best time to get on the 360° camera is during the first few hours of the event, I feel this was one of the best videos I have managed so far (not yet uploaded to my Instagram, but will do so soon) and the photos taken by @Pigritia from afar are Σ(･o･;) ﾊｯ!

Ahora, considero buen momento para hablar sobre la Pasarela Cosplay. Algo que encontraras diferente en esta línea de eventos (TOEV) es que su modalidad de Pasarela Cosplay es no competitiva, lo que quiere decir que la evaluación no es estrictamente técnica y buscan valorar el Cosplay como un hobby divertido de fácil acceso para todos.

Now, I consider it a good time to talk about the Costplay Catwalk. Something you will find different in this line of events (TOEV) is that their modality of Costplay Catwalk is non-competitive, which means that the evaluation is not strictly technical and they seek to value Cosplay as a fun hobby easily accessible to all.

¿Eso hace que el trabajo del jurado sea diferente a otros Concursos de Cosplay?, ¡POR SUPUESTO QUE SI!, o al menos para mí es una forma totalmente diferente de evaluar porque no buscamos un "Campeón Cosplayer", si no a 8 personas de entre todos los participantes, que puedan identificarse con las 8 categorías que premia la organización hasta ahora (entre algunas están maquillaje, mejor prop o mejor cosplay casual, mejor actitud).

Does that make the jury's work different from other Cosplay Contests? Of course it does, or at least for me it's a totally different way to evaluate because we are not looking for a "Cosplayer Champion", but for 8 people among all the participants, who can identify with the 8 categories that the organization rewards so far (among some of them are makeup, best prop, best casual cosplay, or best attitude).

Para mí ha sido un proceso de re-adaptación y aprendizaje muy disfrutable. Todos los días aprendemos algo nuevo y es muy bueno escuchar lo que tienen que decir los demás, y no solo dar por sentado que existe una sola y única forma de hacer las cosas. Sobre todo cuando se trata de la intensión de una organización de dar la bienvenida y acoger a la facción más amateur de la comunidad; Tomodachi Events quiere ser la sede de una actividad Cosplay donde los más nuevos puedan experimentar el escenario por primera vez, pero sin las presiones y formalidades de un concurso en toda regla.

For me it has been a very enjoyable re-adaptation and learning process. Every day we learn something new and it's great to hear what others have to say, and not just take for granted that there is one and only one way of doing things. Especially when it comes to an organization's intention to welcome and embrace the more amateur faction of the community; Tomodachi Events wants to host a Cosplay activity where newbies can experience the stage for the first time, but without the pressures and formalities of a full-fledged contest.

Creo que en mi ciudad somos muy afortunados de tener un espacio así, aunque yo no pueda participar por un tema moral y de respeto (existe un acuerdo de honor entre los Cosplayer que somos más experimentados a nivel competitivo, y es que los concursos de eventos pequeños o a los que asisten muchos nuevos Cosplayers no nos inscribimos, en el sentido de que nos abstenemos de participar para que otros tengan la oportunidad de brillar).

I think that in my city we are very fortunate to have a space like this, although I can not participate for a moral and respect issue (there is an honor agreement among Cosplayers who are more experienced at a competitive level, and is that the contests of small events or those attended by many new Cosplayers we do not sign up, in the sense that we refrain from participating so that others have the opportunity to shine).

En esta convención pude conversar muchísimo más con otras personas ya que el trabajo no fue tan pesado, aunque las horas se me hicieron pocas: Pude entregar algunas de las headdress lolita que hice para ayudarme a reunir dinero para mi nueva máquina de coser (las que quedaron una vez alcanzada la meta las ofrecí como regalo a través de mis historias), pude hablar con amigos que veo pocas veces por temas de trabajo y felicitar con calma a los ganadores de las categorías que pude alcanzar (¡caminan muy rápido!).

At this convention I was able to talk a lot more with other people since the work was not so heavy, although the hours were few: I was able to deliver some of the headdress lolita I made to help me raise money for my new sewing machine (the ones that remained once the goal was reached I offered them as gifts through my stories), I could talk to friends that I rarely see because of work and calmly congratulate the winners of the categories I could reach (they walk very fast!).

Un detalle lindo es que mi cumpleaños fue el 10 de marzo, un día antes del evento, recibí muchas felicitaciones y pude celebrarlo propiamente ese día (si te cuento cómo pasé mi cumpleaños este año capaz te hago llorar jajaja).

A nice detail is that my birthday was on March 10th, one day before the event, I received many congratulations and I was able to celebrate it properly that day (if I tell you how I spent my birthday this year I might make you cry hahaha).

Tomodachi White Day en conclusión, es una propuesta diferente de convención para fanáticos del anime, manga, k-pop, videojuegos, y cosplay, porque su tema es inspirado en un tipo de "San Valentín Japones" un mes después del 14 de febrero; es el evento perfecto para vestir de blanco e ir con tu pareja.

Tomodachi White Day in conclusion, is a different convention proposal for fans of anime, manga, k-pop, video games, and cosplay, because its theme is inspired by a kind of "Japanese Valentine's Day" a month after February 14th; **it is the perfect event to dress in white and go with your partner.

Espero que la organización y los concursantes estuvieran satisfechos con los resultados, y como siempre, espero que sepan que siempre pueden acercarse a mi para cualquier duda que tengan (estare encantada de escucharlos y atenderles), no tiene nada de malo preguntarle a un miembro del jurado sobre los resultados del concurso, al contrario, una costumbre y cordialidad que veo que se ha perdido es que al finalizar el concurso puedes acercarte al jurado para preguntar feedback sobre tu desempeño.

I hope the organization and the contestants were satisfied with the results, and as always, I hope you know that you can always approach me for any questions you may have (I will be happy to listen and assist you), there is nothing wrong with asking a member of the jury about the results of the contest, on the contrary, a custom and cordiality that I see has been lost is that at the end of the contest you can approach the jury to ask for feedback about your performance.
