I spend 2 days trying to fix some mistakes I had made in this parts. You can see the back and the top of the cuatro. What I’m doing with them is reducing their width, so I can start gluing the bar. Also, I need to cut them to shape. I couldn’t do that part because sanding wood is tiresome. But tomorrow is another good day to keep up this project.
As you can see, I picked some picture of the wastes produced by using a plane and sanding. The curly things are called shavings and they are quite interesting. A very long strip of shave wood is a measure of woodworking skills as it means you know how to sharpen your plane and how to apply the same pressure from beginning to end. Sawdust is easier to make and as you can see, I keep mine in a coffee can for emergencies. You never know when you’ll need it. As for the shavings, my mother is happy to have as fertilizer because she always puts it in her plant pots.
Pasé 2 días arreglando algunos errores en la tapa y el fondo. Lo que se aprecia en estas fotos es la reducción de su grosor. El siguiente paso es cortarlas para que tenga la forma característica y luego de eso pegar las barras de refuerzo. Aunque esta última parte no comenzó porque lijar es agotador. Pero mañana es otro buen día para continuar el trabajo.
Como pueden apreciar, tomé unas fotos para mostrar los residuos de mis actividades. Lo primero son virutas. Lograr una viruta larga es la marca de un buen trabajo. Esto implica no solo saber afilar bien el cepillo; también que se sabe aplicar mantener la presión a la hora de usar esta herramienta. El aserrín es más fácil de hacer. Guardo el mío en una lata de café porque nunca se sabe cuando lo vas a necesitar. Las virutas siempre terminan como abono en las plantas de mi madre.
