INGREDIENTS
ā¾1 Ripe plantain (firm).
ā¾Salt to taste.
ā¾Cheese to accompany.
The steps to follow are simple
ā¾PASO 1: The first thing to do is to take the banana and remove the tips, then cut it into large pieces.
ā¾PASO 2: Then place the plantains in pieces in a pot, add water to cover, cover and cook over medium high heat for approximately 15 minutes.
ā¾PASO 3: After the time has elapsed, check if the plantains are cooked. We will know if we observe that the plantains protrude a little from the shell, as shown in the photo. Remove from the heat, take them out of the water and let them rest.
ā¾PASO 4:Remove the shell, and in a bowl mash with a fork or a potato masher, until a puree is obtained. We can add a pinch of salt if desired.
ā¾PASO 5: With the puree, form small balls with your hands and shape them into arepitas.
ā¾PASO 6: Place a plastic bag or plastic film on a board or a flat plate, where we will place our formed arepitas, so when we take them to the frying pan they will not stick.
ā¾PASO 7: Heat the non-stick frying pan over low heat, and place the arepitas for approximately 2 minutes on each side.
And ready, we will have delicious and healthy arepitas that can be served with the cheese of our preference.
