Do you have, like almost everyone else, a collection of jars, glass bottles, plastic bottles, that you keep "just in case"?

Today I am going to show you quickly, easily and with things we have at home, to not spend money, how we can give a different touch to some of the items mentioned above.

I used an empty mayonnaise jar, a glass and a bowl for appetizers.

¿Tienes como casi todo el mundo, una colección de frascos, botellas de vidrio, de plástico, que vas guardando "por si acaso"?

Hoy te voy a enseñar de manera rápida, fácil y con cosas que tenemos en casa, para no gastar dinero, cómo podemos darle un toque distinto a algunos artículos de los arriba mencionados.

Yo utilicé un tarro de mayonesa vacío, un vaso y un cuenco para pasapalos.

The first thing we are going to do is to remove the product's brand label. This is sometimes tedious because they are too stuck to the glass.

But a quick way to do it is to boil water in a pot. When it boils, place your bottle in the water and leave it there for two or three minutes. Some labels take longer to peel off.

Once that time has elapsed, you take the bottle out of the water and the label can be removed quickly and easily.

Then, with nail polish remover and a cotton swab, you will remove any remaining sticker.

Lo primero que vamos a hacer, será retirarle la etiqueta de la marca del producto. Esto a veces es tedioso porque están demasiado pegadas al vidrio.

Pero una manera rápida de hacerlo, es poner en una olla a hervir agua. Cuando hierva, colocas tu frasco dentro del agua y la dejas allí por dos o tres minutos. Hay etiquetas que lleva más tiempo para despegarse.

Una vez transcurrido ese tiempo, sacas la botella del agua y la etiqueta la retirarás fácil y rápido.

Luego, con removedor de esmalte de uñas y un algodón, retirarás lo que pueda quedar de pega.

Let's go now to paint our bottle. To do this, we will take the sponge and add the paint to it. Now, we are going to tap the bottle with the sponge full of paint. You could use a brush, but the finish would not be the same. It would look very uneven.

Ok. ¿lista esta parte, verdad?

Vamos ahora a pintar nuestra botella. Para ello, tomaremos la esponja y le añadiremos la pintura. Ahora, le vamos a ir dando toquecitos a la botella con la esponja llena de pintura. Podrías usar un pincel, pero el acabado no sería igual. Se vería muy disparejo.

Now we must wait for the paint to dry well. The good thing about this type of cold paints is that they dry relatively quickly.

When it is completely dry, you will place the nail polish in the container with the water. I chose black paint for this jar, because it is a gift for my son's father, who loves those strong colors.

The bad thing is that it didn't come out as I wanted because the paint was too thick and most of it went to the bottom of the container. However, I kept trying.

Ahora debemos esperar a que la pintura seque bien. Lo bueno de este tipo de pinturas al frío, es que secan relativamente rápido.

Cuando esté completamente seca, vas a colocar en el envase con el agua, la pintura de uñas. Yo escogí para este tarro, pintura negra, porque es un regalo para el papá de mi hijo, que le encantan esos colores fuertes.

Lo malo, es que no me salió como quería porque la pintura era demasiado espesa y la mayor parte se fue hasta el fondo del envase. Sin embargo, lo seguí intentando.

Once we have put the paint in the container, we will place little by little our jar of mayonnaise, without letting go and without submerging it to the bottom.

Una vez que hayamos puesto la pintura en el envase, colocaremos poco a poco nuestro tarro de mayonesa, sin soltar y sin sumergirlo hasta el fondo.

As I was not very satisfied with the result, I tried to try with the bowl to see how it looked, adding different colors, more cheerful, pastel tones.

Como no quedé muy satisfecha con el resultado, intenté probar con el cuenco para pasapalos a ver qué tal quedaba, añadiendo colores diferentes, más alegres, tonos pasteles.

Here I skipped the step of painting the base first, because my snack bowl is white.

With the toothpick, I gave the paint some small shapes. Fortunately, these colors stayed mostly on top, unlike the black.

Aquí me salté el paso de pintar la base primero, porque mi cuenco de pasapalos es blanco.

Con el mondadientes, le fui dando unas pequeñas formas a la pintura. Afortunadamente, estos colores se mantuvieron casi todos arriba, no como el negro.

I then did the same with a glass beaker which is the only one left from that set. I liked these results better.

Luego hice lo mismo con un vaso de vidrio que es el único que queda de ese juego. Estos resultados me gustaron más.

It is important to clean the water with each immersion, because what remains in it are only paint residues.

Another important fact is that when the materials are dry, we must seal with a varnish or any sealer you have at home.

On the other hand, if you do not like the way it looks, you can clean it with nail polish remover. It comes off completely. Obviously, before sealing. Once sealed, the imperfections cannot be removed.

Es importante limpiar el agua con cada inmersión, porque lo que queda en ella son solo residuos de la pintura.

Otro dato importante, es que al estar secos los materiales, debemos sellar con un barniz o cualquier sellador que tengan en casa.

Por otro lado, lo que no les guste como les quede, pueden limpiarlo con el removedor de esmalte de uñas. Sale totalmente. Obviamente, antes de sellar. Una vez sellado, no se podrán quitar las imperfecciones.
