[En-Es] Amblyscirtes aesculapis

Hello hive friends.

A few days ago I found a jumping butterfly perched on a shoe.
I was quite surprised to find her there and how calm she remained, allowing me to take pictures, despite being so active and elusive (They call her jumping, because she jumps from one side to the other and it is very rare for her to stay still in one position for long time).
In this post I will try to show you the photos I managed to take and a brief review of the species.

Hace algunos días encontré una mariposa saltarina posada sobre un zapato.
Me sorprendio bastante encontrarla allí y lo tranquila que se mantuvo, permitiendo que le tomara fotos, a pesar de ser tan activa y huidiza (Le dicen saltarina, porque salta de un lado a otro y es muy raro que se mantenga quieta en una posición por largo tiempo).
En este post trataré de mostrarles las fotos que logré tomar y un breve repaso sobre la especie.

Amblyscirtes is a genus pattern butterflies in the Hesperiidae family.

Amblyscirtes es un genero de mariposas patron en la familia Hesperiidae.

Common appearance:

Wingspan: 3.0 to 3.8 cm
Wings: The upper part of the wings is dark brown; the forewings have a row of light yellow spots. The underside is dark brown with a yellow or white cobweb pattern
Thorax: yellow
Legs and antennae: brown.
A characteristic that distinguishes this genus from the rest is the arrangement of the fore and aft wings at right angles when they are at rest.

Adults are on wing from March to September. There are two generations per year.

Apariencia comun:
Envergadura: de 3,0 a 3,8 cm
Alas: La parte superior de las alas es de color marrón oscuro; las alas anteriores tienen una hilera de manchas amarillo claro. La parte inferior es de color marrón oscuro con un patrón de telaraña amarilla o blanca.
Torax: amarillo.
Batas y antenas: marron.
Una caracteristica que distingue este genero del resto es la disposicion de las alas anteriores y posteriores en angulo recto cuando estan en reposo.
Los adultos están en vuelo de marzo a septiembre. Hay dos generaciones al año.

Distribution:

It is found from eastern Oklahoma and eastern Texas, to east and south-east Virginia, south along the Atlantic Coast to northern Florida.

Distribucion:

The larvae probably feed on Arundinaria species. Adults feed on the nectar of various flowers, including elephant foot, sweet pepper, blackberry, white clover, self-healing (Prunella vulgaris), and slimming.
