[En-Es] Ecpantheria scribonia (The giant leopard moth)

Hello friends of this beautiful community.
Days ago I found this strange moth perched on a cloth hung out the night before. I didn't hesitate to reach for my phone to photograph it as I hadn't seen anything like it before, not even in photos. I searched the internet for its name and the results were accurate, it is the giant leopard moth.

Hace días encontré esta extraña polilla posada en una tela tendida la noche anterior. No vacilé en buscar mi teléfono para fotografiarla pues no había visto algo así antes, ni siquiera en fotos. Busqué en internet para saber su nombre y los resultados fueron precisos, es la polilla leopardo gigante.

It is white on the head, thorax and abdomen, as well as part of the legs and antennae. Their front wings are translucent and have circular to oval black figures on the thorax. It also has black and white bands on its legs.
I always avoid touching insects so they don't get scared and run away, so I didn't see its abdomen better, however I read in one of the sources that it is blue with orange on the back and white with black on the underside.
The antennas are of the "feather" type.

Es blanca en cabeza, tórax y abdomen, así como en parte de las patas y antenas. Sus alas delanteras son translúcidas y tienen figuras circulares a ovaladas de color negro en el tórax. También tiene bandas negras y blancas en las patas.
Siempre evito tocar a los insectos para que no se asusten y huyan, así que no pude ver mejor su abdomen, sin embargo leí en una de las fuentes consultadas que es azul con anaranjado en el dorso y blanco con negro en la parte ventral.
Las antenas son del tipo "pluma".

Clasificación científica
La polilla leopardo gigante es un insecto del orden Lepidoptera (mariposas y polillas), superfamilia Noctuoidea (polillas mochuelo y parientes), familia Erebidae, subfamilia Arctiinae (polillas tigre y liquen), tribu Arctiini (polillas tigre), subtribu Spilosomina, género Hypercompe, y especie scribonia. The circular figures on the thorax are solid, unlike those on the wings, which are hollow. It measures approximately 3 centimeters, which suggests that it is a female, since the male is usually larger (approximately 5 centimeters).
During mating, which can last more than 24 hours, the male covers almost the entire abdomen of the female with his wings. This forces them to travel together and causes the female to lose some scales on her wings, which reduces her ability to fly.

Las figuras circulares en el tórax son sólidas, a diferencia de las de las alas, que son huecas. Mide aproximadamente 3 centímetros, lo que hace suponer que se trata de una hembra, ya que el macho suele ser mayor (aproximadamente 5 centímetros).
Durante el apareamiento, que puede durar más de 24 horas, el macho cubre con sus alas casi todo el abdomen de la hembra. Esto los obliga a hacer desplazamientos unidos y hace que la hembra sufra pérdida de algunas escamas de las alas, lo que disminuye su capacidad de vuelo.

Another remarkable fact about this moth is that, in the caterpillar stage, it is harmless, even when it has hairs like those of other species.
To protect itself, it only rolls up into a ball, revealing the presence of red to orange bands between abundant black hairs.
These feed on various plant species, including basil, bananas, bougainvillea, willow, violet, lilac, lettuce, sunflower, mulberry, cannabis, dandelion, orange, cabbage and cherry.

Otro hecho remarcable sobre esta polilla es que, en el estadio de oruga, es inofensiva, aun cuando presenta pelos como las de otras especies.
Para protegerse solamente se enrolla adoptando forma de bola, y revelando la presencia de bandas de color rojo a anaranjado entre abundantes pelos negros.
Estas se alimentan de diversas especies vegetales, entre ellas la albahaca, plátanos, bougainvillea, sauce, violeta, lila, lechuga, girasol, morera, cannabis, diente de león, naranja, repollo y cereza.

They inhabit from the United States to South America.

Habitan desde Estados Unidos hasta Sudamérica.
