It has a different flight than other butterflies, it is slow and elegant. When it stops, it slowly opens and closes its wings.
It was at each stop long enough to observe it and take pictures.

Es probable la presencia de híbridos, producto de cruces entre dierentes especies de heliconiae en territorios pertenecientes a Heliconia erato hydara.

Algunas investigaciones han demostrado que ocurren transformaciones anatómicas en el aparato bucal de la larva debidas a variaciones en la disponibilidad de plantas hospederas con brotes jóvenes (plasticidad fenotipica).
