I am having trouble to identify this spider. I'm not sure whether this is a crab spider, or a jumping spider. The spider has an eyes formation like a jumping spider, but it also have the leg that is similar to a crab spider.
This spider was found at KLCC garden park when I was getting my covid19 vaccination shot. After getting my vaccination shots, I go to the park to get a rest before heading back home.
While I was walking in the garden park, I saw this spider that was sitting on top of a leaf. It was rather small and green in color, but somehow I am able to spot it even though it was supposed to be quite impossible to spot.
I always bring my clip on macro lens with me wherever I go. Because I don't know when I will get an opportunity like this. I took several picture of the spider before I exit the park.
As usual, I performed a Google search to identify the spider species. But as mentioned, I am having difficulty to identify whether this is a Jumping Spider or a Crab Spider. I am hoping someone in this community can help me to identify
Based from the Google search result, below is what is have found out:
The characteristic of a Crab Spider is as below: Source
- They have longer front four legs than the back four legs
- Their legs have something called “laterigrade leg orientation,” which means their legs are rotated at the base, causing them to move sideways like crab
- They have two big front eyes and have excellent eyesight
The characteristic of a Jumping Spider is as below: Source
- Usually black, sometimes brown, tan, or gray, and usually with pale markings.
- They have eight eyes in three rows. The front row has four eyes with a very large middle pair.
- Compact with relatively short legs
