I was with my daughters at the playground when I saw a bunch of bees that was sitting on top a a small tree branch. The bees were sitting there and was cleaning the pollen off of their bodies.
The small tree where the bees was sitting on, was really nearby to where my daughters was playing. Hence I am not that worried to take some time taking a close-up photograph of the bees.
In total, there was around 20 plus bees at the small tree branch. But within this pictures, I only focus on three (3) of them. First, I took the overall picture, and then I put on the clip-on macro lens, to get a closer look of the bees.
This bees are commonly found at the playground area. But to photograph one, was really difficult. I did try to photograph these bees previously, however, they flew away as I came closer.
Thankfully this time, they did not fly away. They stay at the same place even though I was really close. Not to let this opportunity goes to waste, I took as many photograph as I can.
Now that I am able to take a close-up photograph of them, I found them kind of cute 😁. In closer look, you can see that their body are full of hairs. This hair helps in spreading the pollen from a flower(s) to another flower(s).
I know that this is Apis cerana based on the four stripe on their abdomen. Some would also mistaken this bees with sweat bees. The might look the same, but the size of Apis cerana is much bigger.
Apis cerana workers have four abdominal stripes, whereas Apis mellifera workers have three abdominal stripes: Source
