I've been having a ton of fun showing off some of my favorite Pokémon cards within my collection. You may or may not have noticed that I only have holographic cards. This is due to the fact that I gave away all of my non-holo cards to a kid who was just getting started with collecting a few years back. This makes the second time that I have given at least part of my collection away. At the time I hadn't been playing with the cards in a long time, they were taking up space. Plus I knew that this kid would find joy in all of my not-so-valuable cards. I would have gone totally nuts as a kid if somebody had just given me a giant box of Pokémon cards.
In all of my Pokémon card posts so far, I have been focusing on just one Pokémon at a time. Today is going to be a bit different. I stumbled upon both of these cards in my collection and knew that they would be great to talk about together. The designs for each of today's cards are some of the best I have seen for any Pokémon card.
My Volcanion EX Promo card is dual-type. Somehow this card manages to pull off being both a Fire-type and a Water-type. Talk about confusing. I would not want to run into a deck built around this card. It's pretty powerful and could easily take care of some cards that normally would be good against a water or fire type. This was the first card I ever saw that had two types. The contrast of red vs blue just sits so well with me. I love how the card seemingly clashes with itself. All of the steam and water spirals just look so cool to me. Volcanion isn't one of my favorite Pokémon, but this card is close to the top in my mind.
The other card I am going to be showing you today is my Flareon EX from Generations. I love this one so much because the art feels like it is jumping out of the card. Even though this is a Flareon card, it includes all three of the original Eeveelutions; Flareon, Jolteon, and Vaporeon. I always thought the fact that one Pokémon could evolve into three different types (depending on which stone you use) was so cool. Then add in the fact that there are four shiny gemstones going up the top right of the card, which I for some reason just love so much. This card design is just so strong in my mind, even if it doesn't make the most sense in the world.
You have already seen a brief preview of my cards, but I think now it is time that you get a closer look. I will provide an image, the card number, and the set to which it belongs. Also listed will be the average going price for these cards on the market. I am always open to selling my cards, but I am not in a rush to do so. Offers would of course need to make sense when looking at the relative prices provided.
