Well, sort of. Two of the books I received this past week should be classics in 20 years. The first one is yet another Usagi Yojimbo 1:10 ratio I ordered off of eBay. It's a Jennifer Myer piece of art, and it's getting about $25 USD yet on eBay. Again, it's no Doge, but I think this will appreciate in value down the road. I'm a big fan of getting these 1:10 Yojimbos for her. How cool will it be to get these slabbed and displayed on a wall someday?
The next one is a little risque but interesting:
I paid about $10 USD for this one a while ago. It too hasn't added much in value, but the artwork by Yoshitaka Amano is fun. I'm still trying to get the one per store variant, too.
Last but not least (and I'm not sure I'll pass this one on to her until she is older), is a store variant for Cold Dead War. Ok, here is my thinking on this one:
- It's a zombie story (people love zombie stories, but more importantly, zombie movies)
- It's rare - the virgin has only 150 copies, the trade has 350 copies
- The story is by George Romero's son, George C. Romero
I smell movie...and I like scarcity. The artwork is by Johnny Desjardins, and if you were to go to eBay today, you would see listings near $100 USD. I bought it on Bulletproof Comics, and you could too today, for much less than $100 USD. So, it's a gamble. A bit scary to show Hattie right now, but something tells me she'll like horror films when she's older (just like her dad!).
Thanks for taking a look; more comics to share soon.
