Well, first and foremost, I picked up DC's new Swamp Thing.
Now, I'm not expecting much from DC in terms of the read. Yet, i have to give a try. I love the Swamp Thing; first it was the old movie, then the two old tv shows that were on late on WGN and USA here in the states. You remember those days too, right? Where you had to thumb through the weekly TV Guide to figure what times and days of the week you had to stay up to watch television shows? Well, I do, anyway.
Later in college, I got into the Alan Moore run with Swamp Thing and was blown away. I vividly remember reading through Swamp Things descent to and ascension from Hell. Crazy stuff (and brilliant, if you are into that type of thing.) There was a lot of heavy stuff going on in that run, paired with some wild abstract art...a bit Evil Dead Two with some Hieronymus Bosch...
Later yet in life, a few years ago I blew through Scott Snyder's take on Swamp Thing over the course of several days after picking up the trades. Snyder definitely paid homage to Moore at times, and I gobbled up his take on the Swamp Thing mythos.
And now we're here, with yet another run of my beloved Swamp Thing. DC screwed up the live action television show as only they can, but maybe they'll get the new comic right? I can't wait to read it; I'm expecting disappointment, but there is always hope, right?
My second add, next to the Mabel hair, is another Momoko The Last Witch piece. I grabbed this for the artist's work alone; this one is going into the Hattie Collection. My thinking on this is that a) it's a Momoko, and b) it's a one per store variant, so in theory the book is scarce. I will pair this one up with her virgin cover in the long term collection. I spent around $25 USD; I don't expect the price to go crazy on this one, so it's more of a art grab.
That's what new for me. Have any of you read the new Swamp Thing? Are any of you fans of the Guardian of the Green too? Let me know below if you have any thoughts! Thanks, as always for stopping by.
