Hello everyone.
Greetings to all. I have been off for quite a long time, life isn't always welcoming after all. Now things are well enough.
Today, I am going to present to you a waterfall scenery that I did a long time ago using oil pastels. Honestly, oil pastels are like highly pigmented soft crayons. So, it's kind of tricky in creating any scenery with oil pastels.
As oil pastels are highly pigmented, they can spread all over the image just by your touch while using. Also, if you accidentally use the wrong color instead of the one you are supposed to use in a part of the image, then also the same will occur and you wouldn't want that. It will be really hard to remove. I mean really tough. If you try to remove it with an eraser, it won't work. It's going to make it only worst. You can scrape it with the small plastic oil pastel scraper you get with Ti Ti oil pastels. It might work a little bit, then use the color you wanted to use and press hard on that part while coloring. So that you can cover the mistake.
Also, as I have mentioned before, it can spread on the page by your hands or fingers while coloring, that's why you have to avoid touching the page at all costs while using oil pastels. You can tape the page to any steady smooth flat surface then you can color it without touching the page. I know I have mentioned a lot of things to be wary about it but once you try and practice more, you will get a hang of it. Also, there are many tutorial videos on how to use oil pastels and their techniques, you can go and take a look on YouTube.
In the scenery, I used scumbling, stippling, and tint oil pastel techniques as I was trying to replicate the scenery out of a real-life waterfall scenery image from the internet. So, when you are going to do a scenery using oil pastels, keep a wet towel or tissue beside you and do a little light sketch out of the scenery which will help you to color the scene. Nothing to worry about, it will disappear after coloring.
So, good luck and have fun. Hope you all liked it, please comment below and share your opinions. Thank you for being patient while reading.
