Education Lockdown
THE HUGE IMPACT OF COVID-19 ON CHILDREN
It is said that children are nearly unaffected by the COVID-19 global pandemic. This is true in terms of how many have shown symptoms or died from the disease. There is, however, one often overlooked impact of this lockdown on young children - Education.
Most schools in the world have closed for the remainder of the 2019 - 2020 education year, but many have tried or are trying to salvage some of the time left. Parents the world over have taken matters into their own hands and provided alternative education to their children, but these are only parents that are able to do so. Some parents have to go to work, while some are incapable of teaching for whatever reason.
Governments and school bodies themselves have also attempted or are attempting to provide alternatives such as online education. This brings to light many issues that may have been overlooked by most people.
In this video, I talk about the huge information gap, digital divide and resource disparities in the homes of students that may otherwise be in the same classroom during normal times.
Are you a parent with school age children? How are you handling this issue?
