Another one from The East Sessions...
(Being, done in the Bali studio of Martin East during July 2016... double so, in SouthEAST Asia... hehe.)
This one was built around the classic drum breakbast from Lee Dorsey's "Get Out My Life Woman" - hence the name.
Layered up with some thick, boomy drums on top. Add in some futuristic synths. The result: a hauntingly cool futuristic swagger borrowing just enough yummy grit from the vinyl crates to fuse into a sonic cocktail tickling the soul with a suave groove that elevates the senses to a different dimension.
And waiting nearly four years to do anything with this turned out to be a great decision. Having significantly improved my mixing skills since, the engineering of the soundscape evolved quite a bit with this mix since first banging out the rough sketch of an idea.
Plus, this has some frequency magic in it.
I'd stumbled across a resource from Sevan Bomar's Secret Energy community listing specific frequencies corresponding to different chakras and 'metaphysical functions.' So... with some meticulous refinement via the FabFilter Pro-EQ, there are some sounds in here with those accentuated. The difference in feel is actually something else.
Be sure to listen on quality headphones and/or stereo if possible, as there's alot of that secret sauce in the bass that drops in at 47 seconds that probably can't be heard/felt so well on cheaper systems or phone/computer.
What shall come of this and the other jams from The East Sessions, I'm not sure yet.
These ones definitely are going somewhere. Though whether that's in the next year or may take another four years, time shall tell. Sometimes you can't dictate the gestation period of a work of art, and must let it take its own course in due time.
Without further ado...
ENJOY! 🥂
