No tengo idea de cómo explicar todo lo que hice para este experimento porque había materiales que no tenia y tuve que ingeniármelas, No pensaba hacerlo porque casualmente no tenia nada de materiales en casa para ningún tipo de experimento y justamente esta semana en la escuela pidieron un experimento (cualquiera que estuviese relacionado con la energía) había experimentos mas fáciles pero no tenia nada de los materiales aquí y tampoco son cosas que se consigan fácilmente al menos donde vivo, asi que después de varios días con dolor de cabeza preocupada por que mi hijo no podría presentar ningún trabajo, finalmente se ilumino el día con un video en tiktok que explicaba un experimento sobre energía hidráulica, y esta vez eran materiales mas sencillos de encontrar o de reemplazar asi que decidí hacerlo.
I have no idea how to explain everything I did for this experiment because there were materials I didn't have and I had to improvise. I wasn't planning on doing it because I didn't have any materials at home for any kind of experiment, and just this week at school they asked for an experiment (anything related to energy). There were easier experiments, but I didn't have any of the materials here, and they're not things that are easy to find, at least where I live. So, after several days of worrying that my son wouldn't be able to turn in any work, my day was finally brightened by a video on TikTok that explained an experiment on hydraulic energy. This time, the materials were easier to find or replace, so I decided to do it.
Proceso/Process
Para empezar necesitaba dos tapas de botella de refresco o de agua, no tenia asi que conseguí milagrosamente dos tapas de una tempera de mi hijo, tuve que sacrificarlas, en fin, el primer paso fue pegar ambas tapas con silicón caliente, luego reforzamos con cinta adhesiva, en el centro de las tapas abrí un hueco usando una aguja caliente. Tuve que pasarla varias veces ya que necesitaba un hueco mas grande que el grosor de una aguja.
To start with, I needed two soda or water bottle caps, but I didn't have any, so I miraculously got two caps from my son's tempera paint set. I had to sacrifice them, but anyway, the first step was to glue both caps together with hot silicone, then reinforce them with adhesive tape. In the center of the caps, I made a hole using a hot needle. I had to do this several times because I needed a hole larger than the thickness of a needle.
Luego tome unas cucharas plásticas que compre hace como 4 años y al fin sirven de algo, las corte dejando un pedacito expuesto que serviría para pegar en las tapas, corte 6 cucharas y las pegue usando silicón caliente. Tomé un palito de madera y lo coloqué dentro del orificio que hice en las tapas, encajaba perfectamente. Luego empecé a hacer una base donde colocaría una botella de agua mas adelante, para esta base use palitos de helado.
Then I took some plastic spoons that I bought about four years ago and finally put to good use. I cut them, leaving a small piece exposed that would be used to stick them to the lids. I cut six spoons and stuck them on using hot silicone. I took a wooden stick and placed it inside the hole I made in the lids; it fit perfectly. Then I started to make a base where I would later place a water bottle. For this base, I used ice cream sticks.
Armar esta plataforma no fue facil y de hecho en parte fue un fracaso ya que la estructura no soporta quedar de pie por si sola, es un poco frustrante pero vere si la arreglo mas adelante, Luego junte dos pares de palitos y los pegue para hacer la extensión de esta hélice, luego le pegue unos pequeños palitos a un extremo para luego abrir un hueco y colocarle otro palo de madera.
Building this platform wasn't easy, and in fact it was partly a failure because the structure can't stand on its own. It's a bit frustrating, but I'll see if I can fix it later. Then I put two pairs of sticks together and glued them to make the extension for this propeller. Next, I glued some small sticks to one end, then made a hole and inserted another wooden stick.
Ese palito es el mismo que usamos anteriormente para traspasar las tapas, lo dejamos encajado en el hueco que hicimos y luego lo ideal seria usar un pitillo cortado, pero no tenia pitillo asi que decidí formar un pitillo de papel y reforzarlo con silicón caliente, la función de este papel es facilitar la movilidad de la hélice que gire sin ningún obstáculo, colocamos las cucharas en el palito y luego tomamos otro palito de helado y le hacemos un hueco en el centro para tapar el restante de palito y que no se salga. No apretar demasiado para que ruede sin problemas.
That stick is the same one we used earlier to transfer the caps. We leave it stuck in the hole we made, and then ideally we would use a cut cigarette, but I didn't have one, so I decided to make a paper straw and reinforce it with hot silicone. The purpose of this paper is to facilitate the mobility of the propeller so that it can rotate without any obstacles. We place the spoons on the stick and then take another ice cream stick and make a hole in the center to cover the remaining stick so that it doesn't come out. Don't press too hard so that it rolls smoothly.
Me di cuenta que la estructura que hice entorpecía las hélices al girar ya que era demasiado corta y pegaba de la base de la bandeja que utilicé, entonces decidí alargar un poco mas la estructura pegando mas palitos de helado. Luego le abrí un hueco a una botella de plástico y le coloque un pitillo improvisado que hice con papel aluminio, selle bien alrededor con silicón caliente para que el agua no escape, ya solo queda montar la botella en la base y agregar el agua para que comience la magia
I realized that the structure I made was hindering the propellers from turning because it was too short and was hitting the base of the tray I used, so I decided to lengthen the structure a little more by gluing more popsicle sticks. Then I made a hole in a plastic bottle and inserted a makeshift straw that I made out of aluminum foil. I sealed it well with hot silicone so that the water wouldn't leak out. Now all that's left is to mount the bottle on the base and add water to make the magic happen.
No pude tomar las mejores fotos del resultado final porque, realmente me siento muy mal, este experimento me hizo doler mucho la cabeza porque fue muy estresante hacerlo sin tener todos los materiales, aun asi quedo bastante bien con algunos defectos pero quedo mejor de lo que esperaba.
I couldn't take the best photos of the final result because I feel really bad. This experiment gave me a terrible headache because it was very stressful to do it without having all the materials. Even so, it turned out pretty well, with a few flaws, but better than I expected.
