Hello, beautiful night! It's a pleasure to greet you. I hope you are all doing very well, dear and appreciated friends. I warmly welcome you to a new blog where I will be sharing with you the creative process of what we will do here step by step. Feel comfortable and thank you for being here reading this blog.✨💗
I tell you that today I was sewing until a little more in the afternoon almost until six because it was very hot and when it is hot in my town it is super strong and annoying, and precisely in my little sewing corner where I always go to work, the truth is that the heat was being felt today and a lot, but I did not want to stop sewing despite the stifling heat that was making I think it was like those hot flashes that you get when you are a little older but oh yes it was strong 🥵 it still did not take away my enthusiasm to finish this skirt that I had bought at the fabric store recently and that because I had other pending jobs I had not been able to sew it, although there are sewing jobs that are quick I wanted to make this skirt and one of the reasons was because I wanted to see how it would look, I love that feeling of seeing a garment finished that I cut a long time ago 😁😅 it sounds funny hahaha but if that is how it passes, but well I was finally able to finish it today and no longer let more time pass there stored and most of the time I forget that I have it inside, stored in the room or in any corner.
In my diary I previously wrote down the design with my measurements. I am a size M and those are my corresponding measurements to make the skirt and cut the pieces.
I know that you all really like the idea of seeing simple and easy garment making and well I always share them here on my sewing blog for those people who are also just starting out and want to learn how to make their clothes for the first time and well they can't find one or another tutorial that makes their life easier and of course the sewing work as a beginner, the truth is I understand this situation and how overwhelmed we can sometimes feel by not finding a tutorial with the simplest possible explanation, so if you are looking for that tutorial don't worry you came to the right place so let's not waste any more time and let's make this simple skirt 😊🪡🧵✂️.
Materiales:// Materials:
- 1 metro de tela rayon
- 50 cm de tela de franela para el forro
- Máquina de coser
- Alfileres
- Hilo
- Cinta métrica
- Tijeras
- 70 cm de elástico de 2 cm de ancho aproximadamente
- 1 meter of rayon fabric
- 50 cm of flannel fabric for the lining
- Sewing Machine
- Pins
- Thread
- Tape Measure
- Scissors
- 70 cm of elastic, approximately 2 cm wide
Pasos a seguir://Steps to follow:
Paso 01
Step 01
The first thing we will do is extend our fabric, fold it in half and measure and mark our measurements, we begin with the width of the skirt, in my case it is 67 cm, the front and back both measure 67 cm, we will make the skirt a little wider than our waist measurement since we will use elastic in the waistband and it is necessary that the skirt is wide, not too much but not a little so that when we put on the skirt it stretches our body, then we measure the length which is 80 cm and there I have already included the cm of the hem, for the lining we will do the same step only that we will cut the lining completely as it goes inside, then we just fold the fabric before cutting it and measure the complete measurement would be 134 cm wide and the normal length of 50 cm, then we will have two front and back pieces and the complete piece of the lining.
Paso 02
Step 02
We proceed to join the pieces of the skirt by the sides placing a pin so that it does not come loose, on both sides we sew with overlock you can do it with the machine you have at home and we reinforce the overlock seam with a straight seam in that case, then we have it like this, and then we do the same procedure that we did with the skirt to sew the lining joining both ends and sew to seal it.
Paso 03
Step 03
We then proceed to sew the edge of my lining with an overlock and then make the hem. We do the same with the skirt piece without making the hem, we leave that for last. Then we join both the lining and the skirt with a pin to sew it before placing the elastic.
Paso 04
Step 04
I will be sewing the two pieces, the skirt and lining, with a straight seam along the edge. Then I will take my elastic and join it with a straight seam at both ends as well. Then, I will join it on the inside with a pin inside the skirt. Now I will sew the elastic with an overlock, stretching it very well so that it can complete the fabric of the skirt very well. That is why it is necessary to stretch our elastic well when we are sewing it.
Paso 05
Step 05
Finally we will sew the edge of our skirt as I mentioned at the beginning and then we will sew the elastic with a straight seam, folding it over and sew the hem of the hem of 2 cm more or less, that is the width that I always make the hems of both skirts and dresses because they do not tend to fold later but are more comfortable, then I finish by overlaying my elastic with another seam almost along the edge and that is how we have this simple skirt finished.
