Hello creatives, welcome to a new blog of simple tutorials and sewing tips with me. I hope you're having a lovely day or evening. Today I want to show you that it's not all about making clothes. I've always had to alter, unpick, and resew dresses that my clients, or even I myself, didn't like before. It's worth noting that I've recently lost a little weight, which has forced me to alter clothes I have in very good condition and tailor them to my size. To do this, I first think about the design I want to create or the transformation I want to do, and then I can calmly dive in and start cutting and unpicking. Because I know what a terrible thing it is in life not to know or have the design in mind, and you could ruin the garment due to a misjudgment. So I always make sure beforehand what I'm going to be doing before I start cutting any garment, whether it's mine or a client's.
You see, I made this dress myself, and I've had it for a year now. My initial idea was to wear it when it was hot, but then I realized that because of my skin type, I get sunburned easily, especially on my arms and legs. So I thought, why not add black sleeves in the same color and fabric as the dress? In this case, it's a peach-colored micro-fabric, which is perfect for warm weather and summer. So I tried to find the same fabric in my dresser drawer and happened to find some from a blouse that was already a bit worn and old, and I transformed it. I hope you like the result; although it's simple, it's very practical for transforming dresses you still want to wear.

Paso 01
Step 01
Okay friends, as a first step I started by cutting the sleeves using my arm measurement as a reference. You can use another blouse separately to cut the fabric and guide yourself. Then we're going to fold the fabric and cut the sleeve to the full length of the blouse. I've left the same hem as the blouse on the sleeve to avoid having to sew the hem again.
Paso 02
Step 02
The next thing we'll do is very simple because we'll be taking our dress and in the sleeve area, in this case this dress has a lace sleeve, we're going to unpick it, I won't cut it because I could cut too much fabric beyond the armhole and it will end up being too wide, so we'll simply unpick both sleeves.
Paso 03
Step 03
After unpicking, it's time to seal the sleeve along the bottom edge. I sewed it with a straight stitch and an overlock stitch to reinforce it. Then I made a small "V" shaped notch with scissors right in the middle of the sleeve. Now we're going to position the sleeve on the armhole outline with pins and proceed to baste it before sewing it with a straight stitch. We'll join both pieces together and thus attach the sleeve. We repeat this step with the other sleeve.
Paso 04
Step 04
Finally, I reinforced the seam of my sleeve with overlock stitching to prevent the thread from coming loose or breaking when we put on the dress. With this final step, we can now appreciate the results.

I really liked the results of the dress, although the sleeve didn't allow me to make it a full sleeve (long sleeve), it looks very good as it turned out because now I can wear it comfortably without needing to put a top on top to protect myself from the sun, since only one garment is necessary because it has its sleeves.
I hope you liked this great idea for personalizing your clothes. Let me know what you thought of this tutorial. I'm signing off now and wishing you a lovely rest until the next blog post. I love you all very much, take care and may God bless you. ❤️😊
