When cooking we manipulate hot objects, that's why I always like to have pot holders, these are very useful to uncover the pots or move them from place; I try to have extra pot holders because, besides using them to manipulate hot pots and containers they are also useful to place the cups, pots that are a little hot and avoid stains or dents on the countertop, today I share with you the elaboration of some nice hens pot holders.
Saludos amigos creativos en todo el mundo, deseo se encuentren bien y tengan una excelente semana, estamos en el asueto de semana santa época propicia para la reflexión y renovación espiritual, también un pequeño descanso en las actividades escolares de los niños, que he aprovechado para hacer algunos proyectos de costura,muy útiles en la cocina; preparar la comida cada día requiere creatividad al combinar los ingredientes y tiempo, las mamás somos muy activas y mientras estamos cocinando atendemos otras actividades; llenar la lavadora, fregar,organizar la sala entre otros.
Al cocinar manipulamos objetos calientes, por ello me gusta siempre tener los agarra ollas, estos son de gran utilidad para destapar las ollas o moverlas de lugar; trato de tener agarradores extras porque, además de usarlos para manipular las ollas y recipientes calientes sirven también para colocar las tazas, ollas que están un poco calientes y evitar así manchas o abolladuras en el mesón, hoy les comparto la elaboración de unas simpáticas gallinas agarra ollas.

This beautiful project is easy to make, I used several pieces of dacron fabric and waffit polo to make it, I started by marking the pieces; body, head, beak and crests.
Este hermoso proyecto es sencillo de elaborar, aproveché varios retazos de tela dacrón y polo waffit para hacerlo, inicié marcando las piezas; cuerpo, cabeza, pico y crestas.
The next step was to cut several strips for the upper crest, which will also serve as a hanger and sew the beak and lower crest, to which I placed wadding to give more volume, once sewn I removed the excess fabric.
With a straight stitch I glued the head to the body.
El siguiente paso fue cortar varias tiras para la cresta superior, que además servirán de colgadero y coser el pico y la cresta inferior, a los cuales coloqué guata para dar más volumen, ya cosidos retiré el exceso de tela.

Then I sewed the beak and the lower crest with zigzag stitch, I also glued the eyes and pinned the strips of the upper crest.

I faced the front part on the right side and a piece of fabric that will be the back part, I used the silhouette of the hen as a guide to sew, so I work more comfortably; on the bottom part I placed the wadding, pinned and sewed with straight stitch leaving an opening to turn over.
Enfrenté por el derecho la parte delantera y un retazo de tela que será la parte trasera, la silueta de la gallina la usé como guía para coser, así trabajo más cómoda; en la parte de abajo coloqué la guata, sujeté con alfileres y cosí con puntada recta dejando una abertura para voltear.
Once the pieces are turned over, I sewed again with a straight stitch and closed the opening, so the pot holders are finished.
Volteadas las piezas, repisé con puntada recta y cerré la abertura, así están terminados los agarra ollas.
To make the most of the fabric scraps with the leftovers I made an additional pot holder, this one is smaller than the previous ones and the design is different; I marked and cut the pieces, then I pinned and sewed with zigzag stitch the head, the beak and the upper crest, then I faced the back and front and sewed in the same way as in the previous pot holders.
Para aprovechar al máximo los retazos de tela con el sobrante hice un agarra olla adicional, este es más pequeño que los anteriores y el diseño es diferente; marqué y corté las piezas, luego sujeté con alfileres cosí con puntada de zigzag la cabeza, el pico y cresta superior, luego enfrenté trasero y delantero y cosí de igual forma que en los anteriores agarra ollas.
I liked the result of this project, the pot holders look very nice, besides it is easy to make them and a way to use the scraps of fabric that are left over from the different sewing jobs, I am very happy with my new pot holders.
El resultado de este proyecto me gustó, los agarra ollas se ven muy bien, además es sencillo hacerlos y una forma de usar los retazos de tela que van quedando de los diferentes trabajos de costura, estoy muy feliz con mis nuevos agarra ollas
