Once the materials were organized, the first step in making the top was to cut the pieces. Since I was going to use the joinery technique, two pieces for the front and two pieces for the back were cut. This sewing technique is one of my favorites because of the neat result, with the seams hidden.
Then I placed the front pieces right sides together and attached the straps to the shoulders, securing them with pins to prevent them from moving while sewing.

Organizados los materiales, el primer paso para la elaboración del top, fue cortar las piezas, como voy a emplear la técnica del embonado se cortan dos piezas del delantero y dos piezas del posterior, esta técnica de costura es una de mis favoritas por el resultado prolijo, con las costuras escondidas.
Luego enfrenté las piezas delanteras por el derecho y coloqué los tirantes en los hombros, fijé con alfileres para evitar que se muevan al momento de coser.
The second step was to place the back pieces right sides together, pin them together, and sew the armholes, neck, and shoulders with a straight stitch. On the back piece, I sewed the armholes and shoulders, leaving the neck open to pass the straps through. The sides and underbust are also left open to join the pieces.
El segundo paso, fue enfrentar derecho con derecho las piezas del posterior, fijé con alfileres y cosí con puntada recta las sisas, cuello y hombros, en la pieza trasera cosí las sisas, y hombros, dejando abierto el cuello para pasar los tirantes, además los costados y bajo de busto también quedan abiertos para unir las piezas.
Once the front and back pieces were assembled, the next step was to join the front and back pieces. Then I turned the piece right side out and aligned the side seams, so the armhole seams matched up. I pinned it and sewed it with a straight stitch. The crop top is now assembled; all that's left is to attach the elastic under the bust.
To determine the amount of elastic needed, I measured the underbust circumference and subtracted six (6) centimeters (78-6 = 72 cm of elastic).
Luego volteé la pieza por el derecho y enfrenté los costados, de tal forma que coincidan las costuras de la sisa, fijé con alfileres y también cosí con puntada recta, así está armado el crop top, solo resta colocar el elástico en el bajo busto.
Para saber la cantidad de elástico necesario, medí el contorno del bajo busto y resté seis (6) centímetros (78-6= 72 cm de elástico)
Next, I sewed the elastic together, right sides facing, and double-stitched it for reinforcement. Then I divided it into four sections and pinned them to the bottom of the top. This makes sewing easier and allows me to stretch the elastic evenly from one point to the other.
Seguidamente cosí el elástico enfrentado los extremos y pasé doble costura para reforzar, luego lo dividí en cuatro partes y con alfileres fijé en el bajo del top, esto permite coser más cómodo y estirar el elástico en la misma medida, de un punto al otro.
To attach the elastic, I placed it against the wrong side of the fabric, sewed with a straight stitch, stretching from one point to another marked with the pin, turned the elastic right side out and sewed with a zigzag stitch. With these simple steps, a cute turquoise sports and beach top is finished.
Para pegar el elástico lo enfrenté con el revés de la tela, cosí con puntada recta, estirando desde un punto a otro marcados con el alfiler, voltée el elástico por el derecho y cosí con puntada de zigzag, con estos sencillos pasos está terminado un lindo top deportivo y playero en color turquesa.
This project is easy to make and requires few materials. If you don't have bias tape and elastic, you can substitute strips of fabric.
