Hello everyone
Season greetings and a beautiful Monday to you all in this great community, it's so nice to be here today to share with you the making of an African print fabric trouser I made for my neighbor's son
As we approach Christmas, there's is a lot of sewing going on here and I believe it's not just me, it's actually every where, this time is the season of the year when we as seamstress and other needle workers get busy if not extremely, we tends to make different outfits for families, friends and clients even sometimes for ourselves even when it's usually a last minute outfits.
I'm to make a top and trouser for my neighbor's son from the same fabric I used for her first daughter, first, I made a gown outfit from the fabric I was given which was meant to be sewn for the children for Christmas but what I did was to cut out the trouser after I had made the gown.
Let me show you how this was made, join me in the step by step process below.
Measurements
Full length 20"
Waist circumference 20"
Crouch 7"
Ankle 8"
From the African print fabric, it was folded in two and the measurements were marked on the fabric to cut out the front panel, 2" was added to the top and the full length for the hemming and elastic casing on the waistline
The front panel was placed on another folded fabric to cut out the back part with 2" added to the side all through for ease and seam allowance
I picked one of the front panel and one of the back part and it was sewn together at the side with 0.5" the same process was repeated on the other side as well
Both legs were sewn together placing front to front and back to back and I folded in 2" for the hemming
I folded 2" in on the waistline for the elastic casing and it was sewn round
Finally, I cut out an elastic band of 1 x 16" and it was inserted in the elastic casing
This is the final and beautiful outcome of the trouser with elastic band I made for my neighbor's son using African print fabric.
I hope you like the making and how nice this turned out.
Join me in my next post for the making of the top
