A new Christmas tradition 🎅🏻🎄☃️
Growing up I never made gingerbread houses, not even once I don't think. It's not that I didn't have an awesome family to celebrate Christmas with all throughout my childhood, I think decorating the tree was just our main focus. Now that I have in my life, we are always looking for fun things to do together. Evidently, she built many gingerbread houses growing up. So she has started sharing her memories with me and has shown me how building a proper gingerbread house is done.
Last year we built our very first gingerbread house together. I actually made a post about that, which you can view here. It was a lot easier than I expected it to be, however it did require quite a bit of patience and precision. This year she got us a different kit and we set out to outdo our creation from last winter.
I kid you not when I say knows what she is doing with these gingerbread houses. She ripped open the box and had all of the items separated in no time. I'm not sure if she likes building these because she is crafty, or because she knows she will get to eat icing pretty much the entire time. My little sugar addict, I love her to death.
She had the tube of icing set up quickly and I was working on building the base in no time. I was there to hold things in place while they found their own balance once the icing had kind of glued everything together.
After we got the walls and roof put together, she began adding heart designs, windows, and doors. As she finished one side, I began placing the candy to add color and personality. We worked together to totally personalize this cute little gingerbread house. My hands struggled to place the tiny little pieces and her hands had to try so hard just to squeeze that icing out. Perhaps we should have switched places, but we made it work.
As you can see, the house came together marvelously. even added some snow on the ground out front. I had fun making this craft together and I know she did too. I refrained from gorging on the icing unlike her. It is as if she knew she was doing something bad, she giggled every single time she took a big finger full of icing and enjoyed that sweet flavor.
We will be leaving this thing in my kitchen as a decoration throughout the holidays. Just like last year, we won't end up eating the house. Part of me feels like this is a waste of sweet treats. However, helps me understand that it is part of the tradition. The house is not necessarily meant to be eaten. It is the process of building together and making another everlasting memory that really matters.
I look forward to 2022 where we will undoubtedly be building another gingerbread house together. I have to hand it to , the girl understands the delicate process of building a house such as this one. Another thing she is awesome at is playing Christmas music, which we got to enjoy throughout the entirety of this fun little process.
I hope you enjoyed getting to see our creation. I wish you and your family happy holidays and hopefully, you too can take the time to build an exquisite gingerbread house such as this one. I love you , thanks for getting me to do things that I wouldn't think to do if I were alone in this world.
