Since it’s Holy Week and Easter, I decided to create a project inspired by the season. Here’s this adorable Easter chick in its eggshell—a decorative figure made using the quilling technique.

Hola a toda mi gente de Hive... 🐱
Para hoy que estamos en estos días de semana santa y de pascuas, se me ocurrió realizar un trabajo alusiva a la temporada, les traigo este adorable pollito de pascuas en su cascarón, una figura decorativa en la técnica de quilling.
Esperando que sea de su agrado, les dejo mi proceso creativo:

• Cintas para quilling.
• Aguja para quilling.
• Plantilla para moldear círculos.
• Cartulinas.
• Guillotina de cortar papel.
• Pintura al frío.
• Pega blanca extra fuerte (de carpintería).
• Pincel.
• Tijera.
- Ribbons for quilling.
- Needle for quilling.
- Template for molding circles.
- Cardboards.
- Paper cutting guillotine.
- Cold painting.
- Extra strong white glue (carpentry glue).
- Brush.
- Scissors.
• Start by taking a 3mm-wide white quilling strip. Use the needle to roll the entire strip until you reach the end, then secure it with extra-strong white glue and remove it from the needle to form a closed circle.
• Shape this circle using a 17mm template. Remove it from the mold and apply extra-strong white glue to the inside to prevent the piece from warping or shifting. Let it dry thoroughly.
• Take a 5mm-wide white ribbon. Use scissors to cut small points around the edges. Glue this piece of ribbon around the top of the piece you made earlier; this will form a small eggshell.
• Comenzamos tomando cinta para quilling de color blanco de 3mm de ancho, con la aguja enrollaremos toda la cinta hasta llegar al final de la misma, sellamos con pega blanca extra fuerte sacamos de la aguja, para obtener un círculo cerrado.
• Moldearemos este círculo en una plantilla en la medida número 17mm, sacamos del molde y aplicamos pega blanca extra fuerte por su parte interna esto para evitar que la pieza de deforme o se mueva. Dejamos secar muy bien.
• Tomaremos cinta de color blanco de 5mm de ancho, con una tijera recortaremos unos picos alrededor, este trozo de cinta lo pegaremos alrededor de la parte de arriba de la pieza que hice con antelación, este será un pequeño cascarón de huevo.

• Using the same method as before, make another piece just like it, but this time using 3mm-wide yellow ribbon.
• Once the yellow piece is ready, glue it on top of the white one; this will be the chick’s head.
• We’ll make some little hairs or feathers for the chick by cutting a piece of ribbon and gluing it to the chick’s head.
• For the wings, we’ll make 4 open circles using 2mm-wide yellow ribbon; two of the circles will be smaller. We’ll shape them into teardrops and pair them up. We’ll glue them to the sides of the central piece.
• Bajo los mismos parámetros anteriores realizaremos otra pieza igual pero con cinta de color amarillo de 3mm de ancho.
• Lista la pieza amarilla, la pegaremos encima de la blanca, está será la cabeza de un pollito.
• Haremos unos pelitos o plumitas para el pollito recortando una trozo de cinta y pegando en la cabeza del pollito.
• Para las alas, realizaremos 4 círculos abiertos de color amarillo con cinta de 2mm de ancho, dos círculos serán más pequeños. Moldearemos en forma de gotas y uniremos en grupos de dos. Pegaremos a los lados de la pieza central.

• For the eyes, we’ll use two small black quilling tubes; for the beak, we’ll cut a double triangle out of a piece of orange cardstock; for the legs, we’ll make a small “X” using two small pieces of orange quilling paper; and finally, I made a small bow cut from a piece of pink cardstock.
• I proceeded to glue each small piece in its corresponding spot, just as you can see in the image.
• To finish, I added a small detail to the bow with red paint, and used red and blue paint to add some tiny dots to the shell.
And that’s how I finished this little Easter chick using the quilling technique.
• Para los ojos usaremos 2 pequeños canutillos negros, el pico lo recortaremos de un trozo de cartulina naranja haciendo un triángulo doble, las patitas haciendo una pequeña x con dos trocitos de quilling naranja, y por último realicé un pequeño lacito recortado de un pedacito de cartulina rosado.
• Procedí a pegar cada pequeña pieza en el sitio correspondiente tal y como pueden ver en la imagen.
• Para finalizar con pintura roja hice un pequeño detalle en el lazo, y con pintura roja y azul realicé unos puntitos en el cascarón.
De esta manera finalice este pequeño pollito de pascuas, en la técnica de quilling.
