Hello hive
Beautiful Thursday morning to you all.
Trust you’ve been having a productive week.
previous post I share with you how are go about my elegant blouse with bell sleeve after the blouse was ready I discover I still have few fabric left then thought of what to do with it actually I can get short skirt from it so decide to go with that. I can actually style it in different way I can wear the blouse with a pants trouser or wear the complete dress.
Measurements Given
Waist: 26 inches
Hip: 34 inches
Full length: 22 inches
Ease: 1 inch (for comfort)
Materials Needed
1 yard Ankara fabric
1 yard lining fabric (lightweight)
Zipper (9inches, back )
Matching thread
Measuring tape, scissors, chalk
Cutting Process
Prepare the Fabric:
Fold the Ankara fabric lengthwise, right sides facing. Do the same for the lining fabric.
Hip Calculation:
Hip ÷ 4 = 34 ÷ 4 = 8½ inches
Add 1 inch ease + 2 inch seam allowance = 11½ inches
Marking the Skirt:
From the folded edge, mark 11½ inches across for hip line.
Measure down 8 inches from waist to hip.
From the waistline, measure 22 inches downward for full length.
Waist Shaping (Dart):
Waist ÷ 4 = 26 ÷ 4 = 6½ inches
Difference between hip and waist = 11½ − 6½ = 5 inches
Create one dart at the back (2 inches wide, 5 inches long).
Hem Width:
For pencil shape, reduce the hem by 1 inch on each side from the hip line.
Cut Fabric:
Cut both Ankara and lining using the same pattern.
Sewing Process
Join Lining to main fabric Skirt:
Place lining and skirt right sides together, sew along from the underneath to the waistline.
Join Darts:
Sew darts on both Ankara and lining, press toward the center.
Shape the side of the skirt
Insert Zipper:
Fix zipper neatly at the back of the Ankara skirt. No split opening because it's a short skirt
Review processing for my blouse with bell sleeve
Fold the fabric neatly with the right sides facing each other, input the body measurement for the front Cut and places another folded Ankara to cut the back leaving 1.5inch for zip allowance, For the Front bodice I cut (two separate pieces due to center slit).
cutting the front effect I go down by 2 inches from the initial waist line then from the down of the blouse at the center points I go in by 2.5 then connect it to the 2inch cut and place it on the lining to cut same but the front and back bodice also the sleeve and take it to the sewing machines to sew.
