Hello, how are you all? I hope you’re all doing really, really well, and today, especially as it’s Good Friday, I hope you’ve spent the day peacefully at home with your family, relaxing.
Por mi parte, yo ando aprovechando estos días de descanso, tanto del trabajo como de la universidad, para hacer mis cosas y para incorporarme un poco a la costura que tanto me gusta. Tenía por acá una bata de satín que desde hace rato quería hacerme y que por falta de tiempo no había podido, así que me puse manos a la obra cortando mi patrón.
For my part, I’m making the most of these days off – from both work and university – to get on with my own things and to get back into the sewing I love so much. I had a satin dressing gown lying around here that I’d been wanting to make for ages but hadn’t been able to due to a lack of time, so I got down to work cutting out my pattern.
Luego de ya tener cortado el patrón como tal de la bata, me tocó cortar dos tiras de un ancho de 3 cm y un largo de 29 cm para lo que serían nuestras tiras para sujetar la batica.
Once I’d cut out the pattern for the robe itself, I had to cut two strips 3 cm wide and 29 cm long to serve as the ties for the robe.
Una vez que ya tenía ambas tiras, las sujeté al revés con alfileres, cosemos y, con una plancha de cabello, muy delicadamente, luego de voltear la tira, planchamos para que quede plana.
Once I had both strips, I pinned them inside out, sewed them together and, using a hair straightener, very gently ironed them flat after turning the strip over.
Ya para esta parte inicie realizando los bordes de la parte de arriba de la bata dejando la parte de abajo de ultima por si llegara a ocurrir algun desperfecto de una parte mas larga que la otra podría cortar y solucionar.
For this part, I started by finishing the edges of the top of the dressing gown, leaving the bottom until last in case there were any problems – if one side ended up being longer than the other, I could simply trim it to fix it.
Despues de terminar comenzé a unir ambas partes tanto delantera como trazera para esto hice dos costuras tanto zig zag como costura recta para asegurar bien ambos lados y también coloque los tirantes para sujetarla de una vez, aqui aproveche de verificar si quedaba en la parte de abajo algo más largo y poder cortar y cerrar de una vez.
Once I’d finished, I started joining the front and back pieces together. To do this, I used both zigzag and straight stitches to secure both sides properly, and I also attached the straps to hold it all in place. At this point, I took the opportunity to check if the bottom was a bit too long so I could trim it and finish it off in one go.
Y así finalmente me quedo, si notan que se puede ver corta yo al principio pensaba lo mismo pero no es nada corta creo que esta perfecta a mi medida y si se nota un poco ancha es porque la tela de satin no estira mucho que se diga entonces como tampoco lleva elastico debe ser asi, claro esta, yo porque no tenía a la mano pero le pueden colocar encaje para decorarla ¡Saludos!
And that’s how I’ve ended up with it. If you think it looks a bit short, I thought the same at first, but it’s not short at all – I think it fits me perfectly. And if it looks a bit wide, it’s because the satin fabric doesn’t stretch much, so as it doesn’t have any elastic either, that’s just how it is. Of course, I didn’t have any to hand, but you could add some lace to decorate it. Best wishes!
