Hello friends, I hope you are very well, today is Friday and we are preparing for the weekend. My work today is something very personal, I had some colored pencils that unfortunately their original box was damaged, so I don't like to have loose colors because with the movements and changes of places the wax can be damaged inside the wood, cracking. So I have made a case to organize them in a motionless way and thus store them. This little organizer is made with reused cardboard from other boxes, using some very simple templates that I designed, all around the size of the colors. Hope you like the build process.

Mi trabajo de hoy es algo muy personal, tenía unos lápices de colores que lamentablemente su caja original se dañó, entonces no me gusta tener los colores sueltos porque con los movimientos y cambios de lugares la cera puede dañarse en el interior de la amdera resquebrajándose. Por lo que he hecho un estuche para organizarlos de manera inmovil y así guardarlos. Este pequeño organizador está hecho con cartón reusado de otras cajas, utilizando unas plantillas muy simples que diseñé, todo en torno al tamaño de los colores. I have designed the templates with a very simple pattern and easy measurements, these measurements are based on the size of the colored pencils so that it does not stand out. So, as you can see, each part of the case measures 18 centimeters at its longest, it is made in the shape of a book that closes. And for the smallest side of 11.5 centimeters, so I chose a cardboard box that exceeded those measurements so that the case would fit very well. There are also the interior measurements of the case as you can see.
Las plantillas las he diseñado con una patrón muy simple y medidas fáciles, estas medidas estan basadas en el tamañó de los lápices de colores para que no sobresalga. Así que como pueden observar cada parte del estuche mide en su parte más larga 18 centímetros, está hecho en forma de libro que se cierra. Y por el lado más pequeño de 11,5 centímetros, así que escogí una caja de cartón que sobrepasara esas medidas para que el estuche quedara muy bien. The first step then is to start transferring the measurements of the templates to the cardboard, we can measure directly or also cut the templates on the cardboard and from there take the measurements. Once we have done it, we are going to cut the remaining tabs for the binding area, remember that the case has the shape of a book. After we make the cuts we can use the ruler or square to press the cardboard, and fold it, so we can open and close the covers.
El primer paso entonces es comenzar a trasladar las medidas de las plantillas hacia el cartón, podemos medir directamente o tambien recortar las plantillas sobre el cartón y de ahí sacar las medidas. Una vez que lo hayamos hecho vamos a cortar las pestañas sobrantes para la zona del encuadernado, recordemos que el estuche tinene forma de libro. Luego que hagamos los cortes podemos utilizar la regla o escuadra para presionar el cartón, y doblarlo, así podremos abrir y cerrar las portadas.
After assembling the entire body of the case we will make the internal parts, to make the place where we will place the colored pencils in an orderly manner, we will cut a cardboard and remove one of the parts until we have the internal relief of the cardboard. We will use the cardboard channels to put the colors. Using the smaller template that measures 11.5 centimeters by 10 centimeters, we will cut and glue. Then we will place strips of cardboard for the sides to hold the colored pencils very well, these measure 10 centimeters long, by 1.2 centimeters wide. At the end we can put two strips of cardboard on top that will help hold the colors, we can put the measure that we deem convenient, as long as it does not exceed the dimensions of the covers.
Luego de armar todo el cuerpo del estuche vamos hacer las partes internnas, para hacer el lugar donde colocaremos los lápices de colores de forma ordenada, cortaremos un cartón y le quitaremos una de las partes hasta que nos quede el relieve interno del cartón. Utilizaremos los canal del cartón para poner los colores. Utilizando la plantilla más pequeña que mide 11,5 centímetros por 10 centímetros, recortaremos y pegaremos. Luego colocaremos tiras de cartón para los lados para sujetar muy bien los lápices de colores, estas miden lo 10 centímteros de largo, por 1,2 centímetros de ancho. Al final podremos dos tiras de cartón en la parte superior que ayudará a sostener los colores, podemos ponerle la medida que creamos conveniente, siempre y cuando no sobrepase las dimensiones de las portadas.
Then we make the other end of the case where we will place pencils and brushes. Using the template we will measure on top of the cardboard, and with a knife we will cut each of the drawn squares, we do it carefully so as not to damage the cardboard.
Seguidamente hacemos el otro extremo del estuche donde colocaremos lápices y pinceles. Utilizando la plantilla mediremos encima del cartón, y con una navaja vamos a cortar cada uno de los cuadros dibujados, lo hacemos con cuidado para no estropear el cartón.
Now we build the front part using a similar process, where the large rectangular cuts are, we will also put a little of the relief of the cardboard, in order to place the pencils and the brushes we open the hole for the pencil sharpener and we leave it intact. Then we are going to make a frame that serves as a base to put it on the case, we are going to cut some pieces of cardboard the same size as the painting and then we are going to join it with glue.
Ahora construimos la parte anterior utilizando un proceso parecido, donde estan los cortes rectangulares grandes, pondremos tambien un poco del relieve del cartón, para así colocar los lápices y los pinceles abrimos el agujero para el sacapuntas y ese lo dejamos intacto. Luego camos a hacer un marco que nos sirve como base para ponerlo luego sobre el estuche, vamos a cortar unos retazos de cartón del mismo tamaño del cuadro y luego lo vamos uniendo con pegamento.
Once we have completed the previous step, we proceed to fix all the parts with glue, we must be careful so that the pieces fit well in the measurements and are not crooked. We also add a lock to close and open, we put a clasp that can be obtained in any garment that is no longer used, we fix it with silicone and that way we will have finished.
Una vez hayamos completado el paso anterior procedemos a fijar todas las partes con pegamento, debemos tener cuidado para que las piezas encajen bien en las medidas y no queden torcidas. Tambien agregamos un seguro para cerrar y abrir, ponemos un broche que se puede conseguir en cualquier prenda de vestir que ya no se use, lo fijamos con silicón y así habremos finalizado.
As the last and most important detail is to order the colors inside the case, I also put 3 pencils and two brushes and a sharpener. These brushes are the ones I use to blur the colors when I'm painting on paper and they help me achieve a better result. This is how this simple set has turned out, we can add and remove things according to our needs, we can also add one more cover if we want to store more things. I did not decorate or paint it in any particular color so that the manual work would look better, that way anyone who wants to do it is free to put the decoration they like. Como último y más importante detalle es ordenar los colores dentro del estuche, tambien puse 3 lápices y dos pinceles y un sacapuntas. Estos pinceles son los que yo uso para difuminar los colores cuando estoy pintando sobre papel y que me ayudan a lograr un mejor resultado. Así es como ha quedado este sencillo set, podemos agregarle y quitarle cosas segun nuestras necesidades, tambien se le puede agregar una portada más si deseamos guardar más cosas. No lo decoré ni lo pinté de ningún color en especial para que el trabajo manual se viera mejor, de esa manera todo el que desée hacerlo es libre de ponerle la decoración que guste.
