Hello dear creative friends, I hope you are all having a pleasant day. Glad to be here today as I've got an exciting sewing project to share with you.
It was my sister's wedding anniversary over the weekend and her husband reached out to me to organize a surprise gift for her,one of which is a beautiful flare dress with puffy sleeves.
Luckily for us, my sister had reached out to me about liking this same dress when I posted it on my status, so deciding on the dress style for her was easy.
I made the dress using a duchess fabric of about 5 yards, buttons, and matching colored thread
Cutting And Sewing Process
- I started by folding the fabric in a four-fold triangle, I used her waist measurement to determine the radius then I cut out the length of the flare
*I used a shirt pattern for the upper part of the dress
- Then sewed the upper part to the lower flare
- I also cut out the collar patterns which I sewed around the neckline of the dress.
- For the sleeves, I cut out a leg of mutton sleeve pattern, gathered it before joining it to both armholes of the dress.
- Finally, I created button holes and sewed buttons from top to down, and that completes the making process.
My sister absolutely loves her dress, and indeed, we made her day.
