Últimamente he estado bastante ocupada con la universidad, por lo que no había tenido mucho tiempo para organizarme y sacar horas o un espacio para dedicarle a mi blog y a la plataforma en general. Pero por fin he logrado desocuparme un poco y tengo planeado adquirir mayor disciplina y hábitos de organización para que me alcance el tiempo equilibradamente para cada una de las cosas que necesito hacer.
Lately, I have been quite busy with university, so I haven't had much time to organize myself and carve out hours or space to dedicate to my blog and the platform in general. But I have finally managed to free up some time, and I plan to acquire more discipline and organizational habits so that I can balance my time for each of the things I need to do.
El día de hoy quiero mostrarles algo súper fácil que se me ocurrió hacer con unos audífonos que me regalaron el año pasado, ¡los cuales amé! Desde hace ya un tiempo quería unos auriculares así, que fueran inalámbricos y que a su vez presentaran un puerto auxiliar para poder utilizarlos cuando la batería se descargue. Sin embargo, a pesar de lo cómodos y cool que me parecen, su diseño de fabricación me hizo sentir que los cascos estaban un poco vacíos. Por lo general, esa zona suele ser ocupada por el logotipo de la marca, un dibujo o alguna otra cosa. Es por eso que decidí agregarles algo para darles personalidad y que los volviera míos según mis gustos y preferencias. Con solo dos materiales, el resultado fue genial, tanto que muchas personas me preguntaron dónde los había comprado y que no notaban que yo los había personalizado a mano.
Today, I want to show you something super easy that I came up with using some headphones that were gifted to me last year, which I loved! For a while now, I wanted wireless headphones that also had an auxiliary port so I could use them when the battery runs out. However, despite how comfortable and cool I think they are, their manufacturing design made me feel like the earcups were a bit empty. Usually, that area is occupied by the brand logo, a drawing, or something else. That’s why I decided to add something to give them personality and make them mine according to my tastes and preferences. With just two materials, the result was great—so much so that many people asked me where I bought them and didn’t notice that I had personalized them by hand.

Ya había realizado este procedimiento con antelación porque quería probarlo y asegurarme de que quedarían bien y luego hacer el tutorial. Sin embargo, el ingrediente con el que contaba para retirar ambos diseños y poder realizarlos nuevamente se me terminó al quitar el primer diseño, que era el de alienígena, así que la bola 8 que le dibujé terminó quedándose igual.
I had already gone through this procedure before because I wanted to try it out and make sure it would turn out well before doing the tutorial. However, the ingredient I had to remove both designs ran out when I took off the first design, which was the alien one, so the 8-ball I drew ended up staying as it was.
Lo primero que vamos a hacer es buscar una imagen de referencia; en mi caso no hubo necesidad porque tenía muy claro en mi mente una silueta súper básica del rostro de una alienígena, prácticamente una imagen tipo vector. Ya que el fondo era negro, decidí realizar la personalización con el color contrario; en este caso sería el blanco.
The first thing we are going to do is look for a reference image; in my case, there was no need because I had a very clear basic silhouette of an alien's face in my mind, practically a vector-style image. Since the background was black, I decided to customize it with the opposite color; in this case, that would be white.
Tomaremos una pequeña porción de pintura blanca con el pincel pequeño y trazaremos un boceto con el que delimitaremos el tamaño y las proporciones de la cara, la barbilla, la parte de arriba de la cabeza, el tamaño de los ojos y demás. Háganlo con confianza; después de todo, es un boceto y lo van a poder corregir y perfeccionar más adelante.
The first thing we will do is take a small portion of white paint with the small brush and sketch out a draft that will outline the size and proportions of the face, chin, top of the head, size of the eyes, and so on. Do it confidently; after all, it's a sketch and you can correct and perfect it later.
A continuación, tomaremos un pincel un poco más grande y rellenaremos todos los espacios necesarios con mucha paciencia, cuidado y amor. De cualquier manera, si la pintura es al frío tiene una gran ventaja, ya que cuando se seca se puede raspar con algún utensilio que no raye la tapa de los cascos. Puede ser un mondadientes o nuestra uña; algo suave pero firme, y con eso pueden corregir los bordes de la silueta dentro de los ojos o donde sea que se hayan equivocado un poco.
Next, we will take a slightly larger brush and fill in all the necessary spaces with a lot of patience, care, and love. In any case, if the paint is cold, it has a great advantage since when it dries, you can scrape it off with a tool that won't scratch the surface of the helmets. It could be a toothpick or your nail; something soft but firm, and with that, you can correct the edges of the silhouette inside the eyes or wherever you might have made a small mistake.
En mi caso, tuve que dar muchas capas ya que la base es súper oscura y la pintura al frío no tiene tanta cobertura, aún más tratándose del color blanco. Le di aproximadamente cinco capas de pintura y dejé secar cada una de ellas con paciencia porque si no la pintura se humedece, se levanta y al momento de aplicar otra capa, la pintura e incluso el barniz se despega o se arrastra, y no queremos eso.
In my case, I had to apply many layers since the base is super dark and cold paint doesn't have much coverage, especially when it comes to white. I applied about five layers of paint and patiently let each one dry because if not, the paint gets damp, lifts up, and when you apply another layer, the paint and even the varnish can peel or drag off, and we don’t want that.
Tengo un gusto muy personal por añadir ojos cansados, hundidos u ojeras a ciertos elementos, principalmente porque las ojeras forman parte de mi apariencia habitual (mi skin predeterminada) y siento que eso le da un toque muy personal a las cosas que dibujo. En mi caso, decidí utilizar un mondadientes con la punta muy afilada y, seguidamente, las puntas de una pinza para raspar un poco alrededor de los ojos y conseguir ese efecto cansado y ojeroso.
I have a very personal taste for adding tired eyes, sunken features, or dark circles to certain elements, mainly because dark circles are part of my usual appearance (my default skin), and I feel that it gives a very personal touch to the things I draw. In my case, I decided to use a toothpick with a very sharp tip and then the tips of tweezers to scrape a little around the eyes to achieve that tired and dark-circled effect.
También quise añadir ciertos detallitos en la parte de arriba de los cascos. Del lado izquierdo coloqué trazos libres e inconclusos que formaban ondas o frecuencias que me gustaron mucho. No lo pensé demasiado, y creo que de eso se trata: dejar que la creatividad nos guíe. No importa si no sale perfecto o al pie de la letra; equivocarnos no es un problema, sino una oportunidad, dependiendo de cómo se mire.
I also wanted to add some little details at the top of the helmets. On the left side, I placed free and unfinished strokes that formed waves or frequencies that I really liked. I didn't overthink it, and I think that's what it's about: letting creativity guide us. It doesn't matter if it doesn't turn out perfect or exactly right; making mistakes is not a problem but an opportunity, depending on how you look at it.
Del otro lado también quise agregar un pequeño rayo o una marca que se asemeja al registro de frecuencias de un audio o música. Para la bola 8, usé una regla de círculos para trazar bien el boceto de la circunferencia. Lo demás ya es evidente; no me quedó tan bien, pero cuando tenga la oportunidad, repetiré el diseño.
On the other side, I also wanted to add a small lightning bolt or a mark that resembles an audio or music frequency register. For the 8-ball, I used a circle ruler to properly sketch out the circumference. The rest is pretty evident; it didn't turn out as well as I'd hoped, but when I get the chance, I'll repeat the design.
Ahora vamos a aplicar una buena capa de barniz transparente para uñas; dos o tres capas quedarán bastante prolijas. Si lo desean, pueden sustituirlo por esmalte acrílico transparente para uñas, el que usualmente se seca en lámpara. El resultado se verá un poco más prolijo sin tantas capas y será más resistente. Solo asegúrense de que cada capa quede bien seca.
Now we are going to apply a good layer of clear nail polish; two or three layers will look quite neat. If you prefer, you can substitute it with clear acrylic nail polish that usually dries under a lamp. The result will look a bit neater without so many layers and will be more durable. Just make sure each layer is well-dried.
