I came across the Mistletoes idea on Pinterest and decided to create a few of these for grandparents and other relatives. It's a win-win because it's inexpensive and also a cherished keepsake for those receiving the gift. You may already have some of the materials at home. I only had to go out and purchase the green stamp pad and two small frames for the ones I framed. I framed a couple of them and sent a couple others in the mail as cards. The one in the photo is a card. Below, I'll show you how I created this. I use the word toddler in the directions, but you could probably create this with babies or small kids, too.
Materials:
1. I measured my toddlers foot and then created tiny pencil marks on the white cardstock to show where I'll put the heels and toes when I stamp each foot (This allows me to center the mistletoe stamp, quickly and neatly, while handling a boisterous toddler with green ink all over her feet).
Tip: I suggest doing a couple test rounds with the foot stamping on some scrap paper, so you can gauge how much ink to use and show your toddler what you'll be doing. Mine seemed to really enjoy it. Luckily, this ink pad does wash off of floors.
2. With your toddler sitting down, take the ink pad in your hand and press it against their feet, making sure to cover the whole foot and toes in ink.
3. Take the first foot and stamp it onto the cardstock, aligning it with the heel & toe pencil marks. Repeat with the opposite foot. Trim the sides of the cardstock if the stamp looks uncentered.
4. With pencil, write out the word Mistletoes. I also included my toddler's name and the year in small letters below it. (I prefer to write stuff out in pencil beforehand to make sure it's centered)
5. Trace over the pencil lettering with a marker/calligraphy pen.
6. For the berries, use the glue to glue three red circles or hearts to the top of the Mistletoe stamp.
Tip: This could either be framed and given as a gift, or glued to some colored cardstock and given as a card.
Happy Holidays everyone! 🎄❄️
