Decorative Elements Made with Recycled Materials ♻️ Elementos Decorativos hechos con Reciclaje ♻️

El Upcycling, también conocido como suprarreciclaje o reciclaje creativo, es el arte de transformar residuos o productos que ya no sirven en nuevos objetos de mayor valor, utilidad o calidad estética.
Mi proyecto DIY de hoy califica como tal, porque transformo unas "tapas de envases de mantequilla" en unos cuadros decorativos para crear una pequeña y original Galería con temática de Costura, ya que es para decorar mi espacio de trabajo de costura en casa.

Es muy proyecto muy sencillo y fácil de hacer, pero el producto final me encantó. Me provocó utilizar un color muy llamativo para destacar y utilicé unos elementos o ilustraciones que elegí de Canva Pro. En mi blog he compartido ciertos elementos decorativos que hago para darle más amor mi espacio de trabajo, ya que estar en un lugar ordenado, limpio y con decoración, me ayuda mucho a impulsar mi creatividad, les enseño cómo hice estos cuadros... Upcycling, also known as creative recycling, is the art of transforming waste or products that are no longer useful into new objects of greater value, utility, or aesthetic quality.

My DIY project today qualifies as such because I'm transforming butter container lids into decorative pictures to create a small and original sewing-themed gallery, since it's to decorate my sewing workspace at home.

It's a very simple and easy project, but I loved the final product. I felt inspired to use a very striking color to make it stand out, and I used some elements or illustrations that I chose from Canva Pro. On my blog, I've shared some decorative items that I make to add more love to my workspace, since being in an organized, clean, and decorated space really helps boost my creativity. I'll show you how I made these pictures... Welcome!

En la App de Canva en su versión Pro y de escritorio, elegí de forma aleatoria "Elementos" de costura que me parecían lindos, en estilo ilustración y con cierto acento vintage. Cuando ya tuve varios para completar una hoja A4, procedía a imprimir en mi impresora laser, saturando un poco los colores, ya que el estilo vintage apagaba un poco las ilustraciones.

Ya había decidido trabajar con solo 4 tapas plásticas de envases de mantequilla. Así que elegí solo 4 ilustraciones de todas las que había recopilado, y por supuesto que las que no usaré en el proyecto de hoy, las reservaré para otros proyectos futuros.

In the Canva app, both the Pro and desktop versions, I randomly selected sewing "elements" that I found attractive, with an illustration style and a vintage feel. Once I had enough to fill an A4 sheet, I printed them on my laser printer, slightly saturating the colors, as the vintage style made the illustrations a bit muted.

I had already decided to work with only four plastic butter container lids. So, I chose just four illustrations from all the ones I had collected, and of course, I'll save the ones I won't use in today's project for future projects.

Estas son las tapas plásticas, redondas y transparentes de envases de mantequilla. Son 4 y es cuestión de ir guardándolas progresivamente, hasta que ya le busco la utilidad como hoy.

Decidí darle un fondo con pintura al frio de color blanco, para tratar de obtener colores más sólidos en el siguiente paso. Hoy no quise pintar con pinceles, trabajé con pedacitos de esponjas que siempre tengo guardados para este fin.

These are the round, clear plastic lids from butter containers. There are four of them, and I gradually save them until I find a use for them, like today.

I decided to give them a base coat of white acrylic paint to try and get more solid colors in the next step. Today I didn't want to paint with brushes; I worked with bits of sponge that I always keep for this purpose.

Luego de que el fondo blanco esté seco, procedí a pintar con pintura al frio igualmente, pero con un color llamado Azul Royal, que me encantó. Di 2 capas de pintura azul, dejando secar bien entre ellas y al finalizar. Solo pinté los bordes, ya que en el centro pegaría una imagen en cada una.

After the white background was dry, I proceeded to paint it with acrylic paint, but in a color called Royal Blue, which I loved. I applied two coats of blue paint, letting it dry completely between coats and after each coat. I only painted the edges, as I would be gluing an image in the center of each one.

Recorté las 4 imágenes o ilustraciones con las que voy a realizar los cuadros, para ello no recorté considerando la figura, sino considerando el espacio central de las tapas, ya que ahí irían pegadas.

I cut out the 4 images or illustrations that I am going to use to make the pictures. To do this, I didn't cut out the figure itself, but rather the central space of the covers, since that's where they would be glued.

Los 4 círculos del paso anterior, tienen como fondo el color blanco de la hoja, pero para darle más interés, decidí colocar un color de tiza pastel en tono azul igualmente.

Y es tan fácil como frotar con un dedo en la tiza pastel y luego frotar en el borde de cada círculo, de manera que quedaría el color bien difuminado y de forma sutil.

The four circles from the previous step have the white background of the paper, but to add more interest, I decided to use a blue pastel chalk.

It's as easy as rubbing a finger in the pastel chalk and then rubbing it along the edge of each circle, so the color blends subtly and evenly.

Así se ven en este punto los círculos, ya tienen más interés y profundidad. Aunque les confieso que luego repetí este paso para tenerlo con más énfasis.

This is how the circles look at this point; they already have more interest and depth. Although I confess that I later repeated this step to emphasize it even more.

Pegué cada círculo de las ilustraciones en cada una de las 4 tapas, utilizando pega blanca escolar, la cual es bastante ligera y transparente. Importante para que no se dañe la impresión: Aplicar poca cantidad de pega, distribuir bien y presionar ligeramente para pegar. No colocar mucha cantidad, no es necesario y cuando pegues la hoja en la tapa, no arrastres para no rasgarlo.

I glued each circle from the illustrations onto one of the four covers using white school glue, which is quite light and transparent. Important to avoid damaging the print: Apply a small amount of glue, spread it well, and press lightly. Don't use too much; it's unnecessary. And when gluing the sheet to the cover, don't drag it to avoid tearing it.

Pienso que la tiza pastel que apliqué funciona para integrar la ilustración con el marco del cuadro, que es de color azul Royal, un azul muy intenso, y esa transición se hace más interesante con el difuminado de la tiza, amé ese efecto.

I think the pastel chalk I applied works to integrate the illustration with the frame of the painting, which is Royal Blue, a very intense blue, and that transition becomes more interesting with the blurring of the chalk; I loved that effect.

Mis cuadros se ven geniales en mi lugar de trabajo, destacan mucho, las ilustraciones con la temática de costura se ven hermosos, y ciertamente hacen más acogedor e inspirador mi espacio y me emociona mucho haberlos hecho con mis manos, desde cero, reciclando y con una idea tan creativa.

My paintings look great in my workspace, they really stand out. The sewing-themed illustrations look beautiful, and they certainly make my space more welcoming and inspiring. I'm so excited to have made them myself, from scratch, recycling, and with such a creative idea.
