Desde que cumplí los 16 años de edad, comencé a trabajar, fui pasante en Insbanca en Caracas, frente al Banco Central de Venezuela, y quedé fija inmediatamente en una institución financiera. Recuerdo que con mi primera quincena salí del trabajo y fue para mi casa, pero antes pasé por una floristería que estaba cerca de mi casa en la Av. Roosvelt y compré unas Claveles Amarillos, fue lo primero que compré. Llegué a mi casa, dejé mi cartera en la mesa, tomé una jarra de vidrio y coloqué las flores en agua. Me sentí muy bien, esa sensación no la olvidaré nunca, porque era lo importante para mí, hacer que mi hogar fuese más lindo, más acogedor, un lugar donde llegar y sentirte bonito.

Es por eso que me gustan tanto los detalles en mi hogar, por las sensaciones, el calor de hogar. En el Diy de hoy les muestro cómo hacer unos Claveles con papel crepé, y aunque las flores naturales son demasiado hermosas y no tienen comparación alguna con algo artificial, también es algo costoso tener siempre flores frescas en la casa. Así que una alternativa es tener en ciertos lugares unas artificiales, para armonizar los ambientes.

Since I turned 16 years old, I started working, I was an intern at Insbanca in Caracas, in front of the Central Bank of Venezuela, and I was immediately fixed in a financial institution. I remember that with my first paycheck I left work and went home, but first I went to a flower shop that was near my house on Roosvelt Avenue and bought some Yellow Carnations, it was the first thing I bought. I arrived home, left my wallet on the table, took a glass jar and put the flowers in water. I felt great, that feeling I will never forget, because that was the important thing for me, to make my home nicer, more welcoming, a place to come and feel beautiful.

That's why I like so much the details in my home, for the sensations, the warmth of home. In today's Diy I show you how to make some Carnations with crepe paper, and although natural flowers are too beautiful and have no comparison with something artificial, it is also expensive to always have fresh flowers in the house. So an alternative is to have some artificial ones in certain places, to harmonize the environment.

Paso 1: Tomamos el papel crepé tal cual como viene, y en un extremo marcamos 6cms. Aquí les dibujé el diseño que voy a usar para cortar el borde del papel con una tijera, puedes ver que es un zig zag y cada dos o tres puntas bajamos hasta la mitad. Procedemos a cortar con la tijera. El dibujo es para explicarles mejor, pero luego puedes hacerlo intuitivamente, porque es muy fácil.

Step 1: We take the crepe paper as it comes, and at one end we mark 6cms. Here I drew the design that I will use to cut the edge of the paper with a scissors, you can see that it is a zig zag and every two or three points we go down to the middle. We proceed to cut with the scissors. The drawing is to explain it better, but then you can do it intuitively, because it is very easy.

Abrimos todo el rollito de papel crepé ya cortado. Lo soltamos todo porque vamos a trabajar con él. Así luce:

We open the whole roll of crepe paper already cut. We let it all out because we are going to work with it. This is what it looks like:

Paso 2: Le colocamos un poco de pega blanca a un palito de altura y le damos un par de vueltas en el papel crepé, solo como para ajustar. Ahora vamos a comenzar a envolver toda la tira del papel crepé en el palito de altura, de la siguiente forma: Colocamos un poquito de pega blanca en el borde inferior del papel, y vamos arruchando el papel y pegándolo al palito.

Step 2: We put some white glue on a height stick and give it a couple of turns on the crepe paper, just to adjust it. Now we are going to start wrapping the whole strip of crepe paper around the height stick, as follows: We put a little bit of white glue on the bottom edge of the paper, and we are going to crumple the paper and glue it to the stick.

Paso 3: La base del clavel la amarramos con un pedacito de hilo, y le colocamos un poco de pega blanca. Procedemos ahora a forrar con la cinta de floristería, damos unas vueltas a la base y luego bajamos y forramos todo el palito de altura. Igualmente, vamos colocando pega a lo largo del palito para garantizar que la cinta quede fija.

Step 3: The base of the carnation we tie it with a little piece of thread, and we put a little white glue. We now proceed to line with the florist's tape, we go around the base a few times and then we go down and line the entire height of the stick. Also, we place glue along the stick to ensure that the ribbon is fixed.

Paso 4: Ya está listo nuestro clavel, solo queda abrir con sutileza toda la flor de papel crepé, para que se vea más frondoso.

Step 4: Now our carnation is ready, it only remains to open with subtlety the whole crepe paper flower, so that it looks more lush.

Aquí pueden ver los claveles realizados con papel crepé en amarillo, rojo y rosado. Aunque los que más me gustaron son los amarillos.

Here you can see the carnations made with crepe paper in yellow, red and pink. Although the ones I liked the most are the yellow ones.

Realmente me gustan las flores amarillas, pienso que se ven más elegantes y suavizan el ambiente. Hice cuatro claveles amarillos.

I really like yellow flowers, I think they look more elegant and soften the mood. I made four yellow carnations.

Como siempre mi hija se adueña de mis pequeños proyectos, ella quiere decorar el área que destina a realizarse sus limpiezas faciales y maquillajes, ya que el color suave de los claveles amarillos hacen un ambiente que le gusta mucho. Dado que no tenía florero, solo tomé un frasco de vidrio y le coloqué una cinta que combinaba y ya quedó bien, aunque sigo en deuda con un florero para ubicar los claveles permanentemente.

As always my daughter takes ownership of my little projects, she wants to decorate the area where she does her facials and make-up, since the soft color of the yellow carnations make an environment that she really likes. Since I didn't have a vase, I just took a glass jar and put a matching ribbon on it and it was fine, although I still need a vase to place the carnations in permanently.
