Sácale el máximo provecho a tus telas con este proyecto (Esp-Eng)

Dicen que todas las que cosemos tenemos muchas telas guardadas que no hemos utilizado, esto es totalmente cierto, lo confieso. En mi caso, guardo prendas que mis hijos ya no usan, pero que se mantienen con mucha integridad. Lo que hago es lo que llamo "sincerar mi stock" es decir, quito botones y cierres para rescatar solo lo valioso: la tela.

Dado que este año me propuse abordar más los proyectos de costura, decidí revisar mi stock de telas y vi algunas telas de jeans y también algunas estampadas. Tal es el caso de estas dos telas:

They say that all of us who sew have many fabrics saved that we have not used, this is totally true, I confess it. In my case, I save clothes that my children no longer wear, but that are maintained with great integrity. What I do is what I call "cleansing my stock" that is, I remove buttons and zippers to rescue only what is valuable: the fabric.

Since this year I decided to tackle sewing projects more, I decided to look through my fabric stock and saw some denim fabrics and also some printed ones. Such is the case of these two fabrics:

La tela estampada era una falda de un traje de pastorcita de mi hija, para un acto escolar. La tela de Jean son las dos piezas de las piernas de un jean que le dejó de servir a mi hija, y que estaba en perfecto estado porque prácticamente ni lo usó.

Así que con estos dos géneros de telas me propuse un Proyecto de Costura, un "Bolso o Cartera de Jean", al que le agregaría detalles con elementos dorados, dos asas, interior con la tela estampada para darle impacto cuando se abra, y un elemento de confección con unas solapas para ubicar el cierre del bolso y que quede con diseño comercial. Hoy terminé este bolso y los invito s ver el paso a paso... Bienvenidos.

The printed fabric was a skirt from my daughter's shepherd's outfit, for a school event. The jean fabric is the two pieces of the legs of a jean that my daughter no longer had any use for, and that was in perfect condition because she practically didn't wear it.

So with these two types of fabrics I proposed a Sewing Project, a **"Jean Bag or Wallet"**, to which I would add details with golden elements, two handles, an interior with printed fabric to give it impact when it is opened, and a manufacturing element with some flaps to locate the closure of the bag and make it have a commercial design. Today I finished this bag and I invite you to see the step by step... Welcome.

Preparación del Cuerpo (Exterior e Interior)

• Limpia y aplana las piernas del jean.

• Corta dos rectángulos y únelos para obtener una pieza de 55 cm x 42 cm.

• Marca y corta cuadrados de [medida] en las esquinas inferiores (con la tela doblada).

• Replica esta misma forma en la tela estampada para el forro.

Body Preparation (Exterior and Interior)

* Cleans and flattens jean legs.
* Cut two rectangles and join them to obtain a 55 cm x 42 cm piece.
* Mark and cut squares of [measurement] in the bottom corners (with the fabric folded).
* Replicate this same shape on the printed fabric for the lining.

Armar la Pieza del Exterior

• Coser con costura recta los dos laterales (donde indico en la primera imagen)
• Abrir la parte donde estaba recortado el cuadrado de las esquinas, se alinea y se cose
• Dar vuelta al derecho.

Assemble the Exterior Piece

* Sew the two sides with a straight seam (where indicated in the first image)
* Open the part where the corner square was cut, align it and sew it
*Turn right side up

Confección del Forro con Bolsillo

• Crea un bolsillo interno con un borde decorativo en jean.

• Centra y cose el bolsillo sobre el derecho del forro.

• Cierra los laterales del forro, dejando una apertura de 7 cm en uno de ellos para voltear el proyecto al final.

Lining Construction with Pocket

* Creates an internal pocket with a decorative jean edge.
* Center and sew the pocket on the right side of the lining.
* Close the sides of the lining, leaving a 7 cm opening in one of them to turn the project at the end.

Detalles: Presillas, Asas, Solapas y Elemento decorativo central

• Presillas: Corta 4 tiras de 6 cm x 26 cm, refuerza con entretela y cose. Inserta las argollas doradas y reserva.

• Asas: Prepara 2 tiras largas de 42 cm con entretela para asegurar resistencia y reserva.

• Solapas del cierre: Crea un "sándwich" con el cierre entre dos tiras de jean. Cose, voltea y repisa para un acabado de lujo.

• Elemento decorativo: Corta 1 tira de 10 cm cose alrededor, introduce argolla, cierra y reserva.

Details: Loops, Handles, Flaps and Central decorative element

* Ties: Cut 4 strips of 6 cm x 26 cm, reinforce with interlining and sew. Insert the gold rings and set aside.
* Handles: Prepare 2 long strips of 42 cm with interlining to ensure resistance and reserve.

* Zipper flaps: Create a "sandwich" with the zipper between two strips of jean. Sew, flip and shelf for a luxurious finish.
* Decorative element: Cut 1 10 cm strip, sew around it, insert a ring, close and reserve.

Ensamblaje Final

• Ubica las presillas y el elemento decorativo central en el exterior.

• Fija las solapas con el cierre (verifica que abran de izquierda a derecha).

Final Assembly

* Locate the loops and the central decorative element on the outside.
* Secure the flaps with the closure (check that they open from left to right).

Así lucen las presillas de las porta asas, el elemento decorativo central y las solapas, todas unidas. Como puedes ver, ya luce hermoso y muy prolijo. La idea es que todas las uniones queden ocultas.

This is what the loops on the handle holders, the central decorative element and the flaps look like, all joined together. As you can see, it already looks beautiful and very neat. The idea is that all the joints are hidden.

• Une el exterior con el forro (derecho con derecho). Asegura con clips y cose todo el contorno superior.

• Voltea por el espacio dejado en el forro y cierra la apertura con costura invisible o a máquina.

* Join the exterior with the lining (right sides to right sides). Secure with clips and sew all the way around the top.
* Flip through the space left in the lining and close the opening with invisible or machine sewing.

• Acomoda bien el forro en el interior y pasa una costura de repise por todo el borde

• Coloca el deslizador en el cierre, limpiar el extremo y coser un trozo de tela de jean para darle acabado.

* Place the lining inside and sew a shelf seam around the edge.
* Place the slider on the closure, clean the end and sew a piece of jean fabric to finish it.

Coloca las Asas

• Cose las dos tiras de asas en las argollas y asegura bien.

• Termina pasando una costura de repise en el asa (como se ve en la 4ta imagen a continuación) esto evitará que la solapa se vaya hacia afuera, y si se mantenga en el centro del bolso.

Place the Handles

* Sew the two straps of handles onto the rings and secure well.
* Finish by sewing a shelf seam on the handle (as seen in the 4th image below) this will prevent the flap from going outwards, and will keep it in the center of the bag.

Este bolso me recuerda que la calidad está en la paciencia. Aunque estuve ocupada, fui preparando cada pieza por separado hasta que hoy procedí a armar todo. Me encanta que, a pesar de su tamaño compacto, tiene una capacidad increíble; mis proyectos anteriores caben perfectamente dentro, tal vez reconozcas algunos de ellos.

This bag reminds me that quality is in patience. Although I was busy, I prepared each piece separately until today I proceeded to put everything together. I love that despite its compact size, it has incredible capacity; my previous projects fit perfectly inside, you may recognize some of them.

Los acabado como el cierre dentro de las solapas o el bolsillo interno, le aportan más interés y elevan la calidad. El bolso se puede ver desde cualquier ángulo ya que cuide todas las terminaciones y acabados.

Finishes such as the closure inside the flaps or the internal pocket add more interest and increase the quality. The bag can be seen from any angle since all the finishes and finishes have been taken care of.
