These photos were taken one Sunday afternoon on grassy land, south of the city of Lhokseumawe. It was a beautiful afternoon, and the sky was still clear. There were sweat bees hanging out on the dry grass, which occasionally swayed due to the gentle breeze.
Among them were those perched in a huddle; there were also pairs—it seemed they were courting; and there was one who had separated from the group—it seemed like he just wanted to be alone. This is a fun thing to see. They are really adorable.
Based on my observations, this is most likely Pseudapis oxybeloides, a species of sweat bee belonging to the family Halictidae.
