I am Ayodeji, and I bring to you my photographs.
It was a really long day, but I was stunned to see a beautiful, big, black African stink ant—Paltothyreus tarsatus.
It gives off a foul smell when you accidentally step on it, and its stink is really painful. I can still remember a day it bit me, I smelt pepper!
The African giant ant bores large holes in the ground due to its large size.
Initially, I thought its botanical name was Oecophylla longinoda, based on one of my recent research findings. However, identifiers later confirmed it to be the African giant ant instead.
Indeed, it is an African giant ant.
This last ant 🐜 is dead! Poor thing!
